So not really worthless, but overall, try it out and see if you like it. The "perfect artian" is only 5-10% better than monster in stats.

Unironically (I'm not joking) Stories does exploration better than mainline. It seriously feels like stories is what mainline always wanted to be. Stronger focus on a narrative, stronger exploration, and ironically prep is even a bigger factor.

The more I think about World the stranger it is. If you were a western player in gen 1/2 then portable was everything that monhun was to you because the expansion to the first mainline and the entirety of the second mainline never released in the west but every portable from those gens did. Then comes the nintendo era where portable takes a back seat because p3rd didn't release in the west and there was a 5 year gap after p3rd until gen so in total that was 7 years after FU that you even got to see portable again. So because of the nintendo era mainline finally gains some kind of reputation with 4U in particular being the most popular mainline to date at the time. Hell 4U was so popular even japan cared about it when they didn't really give a fuck about any mainline before that. So what's their big plan to capitalize on mainline's newfound popularity on nintendo systems? Release the next mainline on every system except nintendo...what? I mean to be fair it paid off massively. World alone made up for all the previous mainlines selling poorly but it's not hard to see why previous mainline fans felt a little betrayed. The funniest part is they did all that and then they fuck up the sequel to world. You can't make this shit up. Mainline has such a bizarre history.
The great thing about Monster Hunter Wilds isn't playing the game, it's showing everybody online that I did.

I mained IG in Worldborne up to like R.Brachy but switched to bugmancer support through then end until Fatalis
I solohunted HH in Risebreak last year and beat Gaiasmagorm but I didn't really do any TUs for base or DLC.
I just get hit too often and playing Melody of Life practically at-will is really helpful. The combo paths for melodies on Rathian bell are also really easy for switching up at a momen'ts notice.

Rise HH is very different from World and Wilds. I didn't really research it before playing and just rawdogged it so my memory of how it works is kinda bad.
In World and Wilds you have to memorize/read the top right for the patterns for melodies but you can input them and save until you're ready to perform. In base World, the longer the melody, the more damage when performing/encore. In Iceborne that's still true but you also have spin2win. In Wilds echo waves do more damage than buff melodies. For both games you obviously want the component notes to hit but for the most part your main damage comes from performances/encores.
In Rise you just play the same note twice to queue up the song so all horns only have 3 effects. Because the buffs are so streamlined, most of your damage now comes from directly hitting with the horn. There's recommended combo strings but it's really reliant on positioning.

I run Inspiration so that when I do throw in heal/MoL/re-up buffs the party gets a short Atk buff, but the Counterstrike/Adrenaline Rush playstyle required to keep up my own damage up really sucks.
