Engage has a very shallow pool of characters people know and most of them are C-listers by the series standards. They not only burnt through all of them in the first year, in the second year they spammed them as alts and created massive burnout for them. We had three Lumeras and Veyles in the same time frame from release as we had zero units of certain 3H characters who would later win CYL.

They did literally the most retarded thing possible and speedran a cast with the choice depth of a kiddy pool. I would have split the royals and had one banner for each of them. Alear and Alfred plus some Firene shitters, then Diamant and some Brodia shitters, then Ivy and some Elusia shitters, and then Timerra and- okay you can't help Solm. But after that I would have looped back around. Celine and Firene leftovers, Alcryst and Brodia leftovers etc.

Instead they did anybody who was vaguely popular instantly and now they've got nothing. The most popular character there is Goldmary who lost CYL to Nidhoggr and Annette who is like a 3H D-lister. None of the other characters are in the top 100, which for a new cast with no alts basically means that nobody cares if they get added.

Honestly I think the initial trailer for engage hurt the game a lot. It took to the third trailer to actually showcase what the gameplay mechanics were like which is what the game real strength was.
