Takumi is a good person and I'm tired of pretending he's not.
He loved his friends and trusted every single one of the SDU. When he makes a mistake, he doesn't blame anyone and even shoulders it as seen in Retsnom. He even allows Gaku to blame him for a fuck up that was all on Gaku, even tried to dissuade Kurara and Kyoshika when they decided to defend him. He's also good natured enough that he can resist the G'ie and managed to stop himself from biting Kurara. There's also the ending where he sacrifices himself to let Kyoshika escape.
He was also horrified when Hiruko revealed that she'd known that he was the killer and let him continue on his murder spree. Even then he didn't hold it against her and encouraged her to escape so she doesn't die.
The reason he hates Eito so much is because practically trampled on his trust and spat in his face and even then, he can choose to spare the bastard.
Takumi may not be perfect but he's far from being the monster people make him out to be

Saiouma in particular always felt so forced to me, there's almost nothing in the game to even latch onto.

Kokichi's foil isn't even Shuichi, it's Kaito. Shuichi's foil is Kiibo, even if it takes until the very end to actually reveal that.

Kokichi doesn't give a fuck about Shuichi, his entire plan in Ch5 even revolved around him not solving the case. He doesn't respect or believe in his ability and actively sees him as encouraging the killing game by his passivity.

Yeah, he teases him sometimes... but it's Kokichi, he teases *everyone*, all the time. It doesn't mean anything.

I get why fujos see Eitaku as the second coming of Komahina, it has a similar, if more extreme dynamic.

But Saiouma always felt like grasping at straws to recreate something that Kodaka did not actually provide that time.

And I think Kodaka knows this too, that's why Eitaku is the way it is. I think for the most part, he baits yaoifags incidentally... this felt like the first time he did it somewhat deliberately. That's not a knock on it, its good stuff, but it feels a *tiny* bit artificial in a way previous examples didn't. That's my view anyway.
