Kind of. It takes the damage of whatever you hit on one target and distributes it evenly across everyone which bypasses most hit count buffs. There was a horrible level in 34 I think that had a glass boss with like 5 volleyballs so it was just miserable as you couldn't just beat on the boss because sharing 1 damage across all enemies isn't very effective.
