The biggest problem I found with having the Exodar as your base is the lack of flying. I could ignore the terrible layout of the city but the lack of flying was just a massive pain in the ass. Felt so slow going anywhere.
Also the fact that there are no portals so you just end up going to the faction capitals anyway.
It's sad because there are some great cities in WoW but there's absolutely no incentive to use them.

Times change, but war never does and somebody's always better of leaving their old crew behind because they're just not good for you.
Instead of "everyone is friends", the plot should have been "everyone is enemies" and from that, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend until further notice" is the natural development. Players can go nuts and fight anybody and everybody, while the plot allows actual grudges and new, authentic friendships to develop.
Instead I have to suffer through teased aggravations between "leaders" who do nothing but snark at each other with empty chest-thumping and then quickly apologizing when the rough-and-tumble tumbles too roughly.

Shadowlands should have just been a shadowy mirror of Azeroth (like the Emerald Dream is a green mirror of Azeroth), a transitional realm where souls pass through or linger for a while before passing on their way to the great mystery beyond.
And they should not have focused an entire expansion on it.
Making a universal afterlife for every one of infinite dimensions out there and then having like 10 characters that matter was a mistake.

real problems start when you start assuming that your maze pug is same as mlg r1 chinks and will do everything perfectly.
also, once you get used to it - after couple of pulls you will be able to tell if your pug is actually a group of braindead fucktards or if they know a bit on how to play the game.
and one more thing. when you are playing with pugs from lfg - you really want to prio your defenses and survivability over everything else. it is only with good static comps you can start worrying about your damage as a tank.

The problem I'm theorizing about is: memes like "Xala'tath feet lol" that are embraced by the community and humored by Blizzard (don't pretend they aren't, these camera angles aren't accidental) are proof that everyone is willing to indulge in humor based on titillation, but they will only do so if it's either A) a "safe" fetish or B) a joke.
What do I mean? Well there seems to be this ridiculous hierarchy where some sex-jokes are fine and some are not. If Calia Menethil became plot relevant and wore a gown that showed off her huge breasts, and camera angles made subtle jokes where her cleavage was very noticeable or peeked into frame 3 minutes before the rest of her did, and the community began making milk truck jokes, I believe that would be considered "crossing a line" and Blizzard wouldn't do it to begin with.
Similarly if Sally Whitemane went back to wearing that outfit everybody actually knows her for where her ass is hanging out, would everyone be as comfortable making jokes about it? I don't believe so. This does exist in another Blizzard property - Overwatch - but the character design in that game is night & day compared to something like Alleria's redesign for TWW. Would the same offense manifest if it was, say, Baine's ass? I don't think so. That would be discouraging 'pride' which is verboten.
So we're left in this awkward situation where the character designs, game community and Chris Metzen all speak out against sexy character design, but then introduce this character with lovingly-modeled feet because a foot fetish isn't something soccer moms will picket against. Foot fetishes are strange and to a lot of people humorous. Feet don't make sense to most people; therefore all those repressed impulses and desires to poke fun can be dumped into it.
The post-ironic millennial terror of being genuine also comes into play here, I think, but that's getting way too into the weeds.
