I'm too autistic to use allied units because you can't buff them through tech tree, red line or particular lord/hero skills, I like to be on the top of my game. Why use a unit I haven't buffed its MA/MD by 10+, +5 piercing dmg, 10% range 20% missile damage, 10% physical resistance + 15% missile resistance? The mere idea is absolutely insane.

2% is ridiculously low. Its not 50 turns for guaranteed effect (obviously). In fact you could spend 100 turns from gaining it and you'd still have 1-in-6 chance to still not have it. For how minor the buff is and how crippling 10 turn wound would be on your powerhouse lord you want the trait on, its really not worth it. Also the helm itself looks strong but is rather mid besides unbreakable. Immune to contacts is too rarely useful besides poison which is only -15% debuf anyways and charge defense is also situational, doubly so if your lord has flying/monstrous mouny. I'd take +10 MD +regeneration armor over it any day.

the helm is still not worth using because you can't keep the trait and all the downsides, but unbreakable is easily the weakest trait of all the ones it provides
if you're tanky enough you're not going to break anyways, unless it was already a losing fight
there are a lot of random contact effects now that they have added more to the new items, and even before you would run into situations where contact effects really screw you over like agianst crooked moon
it is also much easier to get armor and MD than it is to get immune to contact effects, regeneration would be better though

What's the early game strategy as Be'lakor? I took my starting land, should I move into Norsca, go to Bretonnia, or fuck off through some portals to somewhere else in the world and start collecting Champions? I'm using recruit defeated lords, with access to all Daemons so I can make thematic armies.

Do I only want to keep Dark Forts and resource settlements or should I keep everything and just sell the non special/resource ones to vassals for more cash?

Usually I have the most luck if I go east into Norsca until I border Throgg, and then like you can get an alliance going with him and make that one of your borders, since you can end up in a situation if you like keep going where you get stuck trying to take the hellpit while being pulled in tooo many directions at once
I usually get rid of everything but the dark forts and resources, you get so little from the tier 1 settlements (and they're so hard to defend) that the only reason I'd keep them is to barter them away to people for vassal deals
Be careful about not vassalizing LITERALLY everyone, its a really fun idea and I like doing it but you'll end up making all your vassals hate you and they'll break their trade agreements. I actively break this advice anyway, but it's probably better to just vassalize norscans and grow their power

How is the game overall now, I heard a lot of people comaining about game 3.
The Warhammer Trilogy bundle on allkeys is pretty cheap for the content, was thinking of getting it. If game 3 is really in a bad spot can play 2, since that's the one people universally praised.

thinking about tw the main problem with the series is that the tbs aspect and the rtt aspect are opposed to each other. the most fun battles are ones where you are struggling and barely pull off a win, but if you are fighting those all the time you are probably losing your campaign. on the other hand if you are winning your campaign all of your battles are going to be decisive autoresolves. this is because the campaign layer is too simplified and one dimensional. if you are doing well in the campaign your only reward is easier battles, and if you are doing poorly your punishment is harder fights. there are no alternate win conditions or systems that revolve around something other than making armies and moving them around, so the only way the game can make itself harder is by throwing more stacks at you. more recent games make the issue even worse by giving you money for winning battles so you don't even have to pretend that your economy matters.

this problem is further compounded because ca is incapable of programming an ai that requires actual skill to beat. instead all difficulty mechanics revolve around cheats, and instead of having to raise their skill levels players are encouraged to use various crutch mechanics. the result is that no game setting is actually fun. easy doesn't provide you with enough stuff to fight, and hard isn't actually any harder, it just expects you to cheat more which ends up making the game even less fun.

I only play on VH:VH while buffing the AI with a few cheats. Also having the slider at 0 (no nerf or buff to unit stats). But since you struggle with the other daemons, perhaps easy to have a feel for it? Ku'gath can have a pretty rough start too, just take it easy and don't feel as if you need to attack every single turn. Ghorst can be a prick with 4 full stacks of assholes early on. Very early. Manual battle, too. Don't look at AR results and go "wtf this sucks too hard" and quit.

I don't really have any combats cheats other than the slight buffs that the bloodline hero gives (+2melee and 5%speed iirc), that being said I play in VH/Normal but autoresolve was giving me a defeat.
I think high unit mass with high charge values are just really good with skavens, never got stuck with my cavalry even with stormvermins, plus I really was fighting one army at a time and I intercepted the most dangerous one full of ratlings and poisoned wind mortars far away from my units with Mannfred, started spamming winds of death and zombies on top of them. I also would have had catstrophic losses with all the skavens imploding on my units if I didn't revive virtually all of them.

Some of you guys might get a kick out of my solo game dev project. It's basically a 2D shooter/strategy game with large battlefields and the player controlling a walking tank drone. Players can call in soldiers to be dropped in via helicopter, build tanks/APC's and put down fortifications and shit. Nearby soldiers will follow the player so you have some control over their positioning. Squad leaders charge towards enemies, and the lower rank soldiers all try to stick with the squad leaders. It ends up creating pretty interesting battles even if you just sit back and observe while your units get into engagements. There's human forces to fight against as well as demonic enemies. unit caps is another boondoggle like siege ladders. even if unit caps were added the ai wouldn't know how to deal with them and would end up making retarded shit armies, and if ca actually gave the ai templates it had to follow to make sensible armies there wouldn't be a need for caps.

anyway instead of caps I would like to see supply lines reworked to be scaling upkeep based on army value instead of army numbers. so for example if your total army value is under 10k gold you pay 100% upkeep, but if you go over that it scales to like 300% for some ridiculous 19 star dragon army. so you can still have your doom stack but it will cost as much as 3 normal armies.

Can I have a QRD on difficulty in Warhammer 3. I'm playing Easy/Easy as I'm a noob, I remember a post from a few weeks ago saying one of these should be hard as Auto Resolve is broken or something? It says fights will be easier than they are?

If you're new then at least put the battle difficulty on normal or hard so that autoresolve will not deceive you because of the cheat you got, for campaign difficulty you can play set it to easy because it will only affect the economy and aggression of the AI while give you some buff. Samefag here. I should've taken a post-battle screencap, but trying Grom out in different ways and after having played Chorfs yet again as I play them a lot, deathshreiker's non-split AP rocket came to mind and I got fantastic use out of Grom against GS heroes and lords. It almost exclusively shot at orc warboss (lord) and two troll heroes. Almost solo'd them (they eventually got in range of my ranged units) and took a few shots at some cavalry. Used all ammo (no ammo buffs on tech or lord) and got just under 2k gold value, 60 kills (some splash/penetration). Forgot damage number, but gold was like 1.8k. Not bad.

The campaign difficulty is your main difficulty modifier, it affect how many armies the enemy will have and how fast they will recover but also how fast AI will build up to field high tier units, the difference between Easy and Normal isn't really much at all but you can pick whatever difficulty fit you best.
The battle difficulty does 2 things, change AI's IQ from -20 to -10 which is irrelevant and change the outcome of autoresolve.
On easy the AR will say few units of bony boys will get heroic victor against Skarbrand, you will play it expecting better and he will wipe the floor with you resulting in a crushing defeat that will make you believe you suck.
On very hard the AR will say crushing defeat, you will play it and you will get crushing defeat because there is no fucking way for your bony boys to do anything to Skarbrand, this will be your learning experience and you won't blame yourself for it.
After a while you will get a feeling for what your troops can or can't do so you will know when the AR is bullshiting you, on the other hand you will feel incredible when you manage to turn crushing defeat into heroic victory.
The battle stats modifier is again mostly irrelevant except for mostly range armies due to bonus for range units and skaven since they have shit leadership, basically if you play Clan Skryre these bonuses can really help you when you struggle with combat but as Khorne they are irrelevant.
Keep in mind that changing battle difficulty also change battle stats so you will have to adjust them if you change the battle difficulty.

I take out Thrott ASAP. Just be mindful of Throg coming in from NW (he does in my campaigns majority of the time). Sometimes Epidemius comes across but he gets fucked easily (and you can easily see him come across the waters so you have time). Archaon and Arbaal are never an issue early game.
