The franchise is clearly more marketable in other media outside of video games and has been doing relatively better in public opinion because of it. Sonic Team is clearly burnt out on ideas and Iizuka is probably going to be retiring in the next few years.

I don't hate western Sonic media, obviously, but for the characterizations its largely disregarded.
There are western OCs, a few of them main characters. They get to keep their personalities and biological attachment to game characters. But that's basically it. I can't pretend to be a Sonic expert or anything but any character traits I don't recognize from the games are absent.

It's using the term "polar opposite" to mean "I'm like you but... evil", which doesn't match what "polar opposite" actually entails.

Shadow shares Sonic's traits of being cool, aloof, rebellious, chaotic in nature. But at the same time, he's focused on a specific purpose while Sonic just lives in the moment. The fundamental nature of Shadow is an altered version of Sonic.

I kinda wanna see Silver, Blaze and Ariam together because to me I feel like Ariam being the responsible logical one means they can let that hot headed part of Blaze's personality come out along with Silver's own brashness, People forget but both her and Silver had pretty violent reactions to Orbot and Cubot in colors and both of them were ready to throw down with Dodonpa until Sonic made his presence known. Which is why it's a bit annoying that Blaze is always stuck in the responsible one role by IDW when in reality she and Silver would end up causing some shit if there's there's not somebody familiar with both of them to calm their tempers. Ariam would be perfect for that role as Cream or Marine hell even both of them being present tends to make them act more responsible. The rabbit (Carottia) and the bear (Bearanger) are from Tails' Skypatrol. The tall bird (Grand Battle Kukku XVI) and the smaller one (Speedy) come from Tails Adventure. Both were released on the Game Gear in 1995

Carottia looks a bit different in the actual game though. That design is from IDW, which I actually prefer since it looks closer to other game characters
