I have finished Invasion.

Crow's major issue isn't that she is an insane retard, it's perfectly fine for a character to be an insane retard; I haven't done her advices or bonds so i don't know if they acknowledge this or if they try and play it up like she's some genius strategist or whatever, but other characters like Ingrid and EH at least call her out on the fact her philosophising is just an excuse to be a twisted fucking psycho bitch so I can let it slide. The major issue with the whole thing is that her plans are stupid and their success relies on everyone else being more stupid, and dumb luck.

For Jackal this is fine because Jackal is retarded, but even Jackal seems to know on some level that she's being used and just goes along with it because she doesn't have anyone else and doesn't want to be alone. Similar for Viper, she's on board until she isn't, whatever. But SKK, EH, and Yuni have to be actively brain-damaged to trust her for even a second, us especially. And then our whole, "We must reason with her," thing goes out of the window like two seconds later, so it was only there to justify not letting Syuen blow her head off straight away, Allah forgive me for agreeing with Syuen on anything. Then Guillotine decides not to use her demon-eye on Crow because she felt subduing Jackal was more important, for some fucking reason. Then Diesel and Soline let her go for no fucking reason. Then Syuen's hand slips haha oops. At every point Crow should have gotten her shit stomped out, but she didn't, not because she had clever contingencies and backups, but because everyone around her is just that little bit more of an absolute fucking moron than she is.

And then all the, "Oh no this character's dead haha just kidding," shit. Yuni killing Mihara would have actually been kino (and they could have left it as her being dead-dead until she came back overclocked years later), but no 'twas but a scratch she's actually fine just needs to walk it off. In a story where the only major consequence involving a character 'death' happened in the prologue, you can't just keep pulling this shit (especially so rapid-fire) and then expect anyone to care the next time it happens, you have killed all tension that particular device has for the rest of the story. And whatever saving grace the Yuni plot may have provided was ruined by Crow too, "Damn I'm so mindbroken by Syuen mistreating and betraying me, I better completely trust this other obviously evil asshole instead," yeah great fuck off.

Which leaves the only saving grace being Underworld Queen. Other than the initial setup with Blanc and Noir being a bit overlong (and also kinda stupid how they can't hire a bit of security when they run probably the most profitable establishment in the Ark and have Mustang's ear, but whatever there was a keikaku at hand so I'll let it slide) Moran holding the gates like Zhang Fei holding Changban Bridge and the others organising an armistice to halt Doban was pretty entertaining.

I guess back when this game was new they just threw outfits at whoever they had regardless of how much screentime they actually got, and because there were less characters back then it resulted in some unusual characters getting some.

Cause not only does Brid never appear in the main story, or events, I've been clearing out the outpost encounters for a while and Brid hardly shows up in any of them. Even in the Train Station, where you'd expect her to show up, there are a couple but it's still mainly just Diesel and/or Soline. It is ridiculous the extent to which they ignore Brid. Though, not too surprising since she is not as interesting a character as the other two. I have to admit even if Brid and Soline finally got treasures I would still prioritize Soline over Brid.

I've also been clearing out advises I hadn't done yet so for the first time today I found out that Brid can make this face. That's how little she shows up, that I didn't even know she had this face.
