Still working on it, hope the outline effect won't take too long, would anyone actually use the platforms on the building if I were to add them seeing how far off in the distance they'd be? Asking for the sake of knowing if it'd be worth giving them time to make 'em detail or nah, since there's a few times I detail stuff only for it to end up covered up and all.

Looking at the Starry World version of the area they did actually change a couple more things than I thought they did in terms of the actual buildings, I'll see how I can adjust the existing base to work with those changes

Well shit, you posted it. Though outside of that... I think for me it genuinely was seeing Soul Melter EX Void for the first time, and hearing Birth of Hope change into Twinkling Star during it. I expected it to be an even harder Void Soul, but combining the upped difficulty with new attacks and the unique background was something else entirely, specially with how Twinkling Star itself morphs into Green Greens and then into chiptune. I still think it's a phenomenal moment, and I already liked Void's vanilla presentation a whole lot in general.

The hardest final boss in this franchise is the Mage Sisters (HiAD) by far. Usually I’m able to beat the final bosses on the first or second attempt but they took me I think about 5-10 tries and I barely made it the time I did beat them.

Man I... really didn't account for how many Mask shenanigans I'd need to do to pull off the SCW edit for the collab background, between the general hue shifting and the crystals. I think I'm at 126 layers total now in my work file... Still, chipping away at it regardless. I wanted to draw unique crystal formations along the right edge of the road but I think I'll have to just use a single template one for that for the sake of time (not like I have the luxury of being able to make them look different by just rotating the 3D model). Still, I promised myself I'd have it done before the release week for it, and dammit I'm gonna do it. Unrelated, but I will say that all the speculation about the comet relating to Void makes me want to try writing for him, though, I'm not entirely sure how he should be characterized, if given character at all... Elfilis is definitely my comfort zone when it comes to that.

...pretty happy with how the starry sky turned out though, I tend to do things moreso with cleaner lines (see the regular clouds in the background) but I figured something more blurred would help sell the nebula look better, I think it paid off!

I feel like even HAL must know he's the epitome of wasted potential, being "Dark Zero" in Japan and all. With all the other things they've brought back into relevance, wouldn't be surprised if they do the same for him. Maybe the one we saw in Squeak Squad was just a fragment of the real Dark Nebula and the rest was sealed by the Starries?

Slight update, I think this is how I'll handle the crystals, I think it gets the idea across while sparing me some of the detailing (which I'm expecting to be covered up by people's additions to the collab). If anyone's interested in drawing on the Starry side specifically and wants the outline detail, the hex color for the blue I'm using on the outline effect is #5FDCFE for what it's worth

Air Ride is one of the only Kirby games I haven't played so I'm excited to give Air Riders a shot.

The original Air Riders didn't include a ton of pre-super star characters or content either. It's simply not the focus and I wouldn't expect that to change in Air Riders

In fact I'd be pissed if the game went all in on adding existing Kirby characters and kirby themed vehicles and stages instead of focusing on the distinct Air Ride aesthetic for vehicles and their unique movement gimmicks. That said, I still want, and expect, some additional Kirby characters beyond Kirby, Meta Knight, and Dedede. But I think and hope it'll be more like 7-10 rather then 15-20, and that they're still very much outnumbered by the air ride machines, or that Sakurai has them riding the air ride machines kirby also does

This is the best case scenario, and I think it's what everyone means when they want an expanded roster (or at least I hope it is). Have all the characters play mostly identically, and give them all access to Air Ride machines. Maybe give them a unique weak attack they can use when they're on foot? Plus, almost everyone in Kirby can fly, and the ones that can't can just Infinity Jump anyway, so that's not an issue.

If Susie gets in I want to see her ride on the back of a Stock Mecha Knight. If Marx gets in, I want to see him fly with his wings but have have the optional ride of simply running on his ball really really fast.

I think it's the best way to try to compromise, but I think i'd still prefer to just only have a few new characters handled as the original did it (tho maybe with more of their own unique movement gimmick each), and just focus mostly on new air ride machines.

The problem with letting any character use any machine is that it undermines the weight of picking a specific option, and it also undermines intuitive visual identification in game. Using Mario Kart as an example, when they added kart selection and then customization, picking a specific character no longer had as much meaning behind it, since it decided less about their gameplay attributes relatively to other choices, and it also meant at a glance mid race it wasn't easy to tell what a specific person picked since you have to parse both their character, kart, etc. The fact the karts also had wildly different designs undermined a sense of visual unity.

I worry Air Riders allowing non kirby characters to pick normal air ride machines would do something similar, albiet it's underming the importance and visual unity of the ride machines, not the characters.

I'm not of the mindset that Air Riders should have a Mario Kart approach and just throw as many characters possible in but at the same time I do think it's silly when people get upset that newer fans want to play as Bandana or Magolor in the Kirby spin-off racer game.
It's definitely possible and the game IS called "air riderS" with a big fat S at the end, implying multiple riders. I know multiple Kirbies would still be multiple riders but come on

Since Qbby tends to cameo in Kirby games and the Smash copy ability is a thing I'm kinda hoping there's a ride machine referencing Kid Icarus or something like that

He clearly has a bias for his own stuff. You can tell this is made with his preferences for the series. Kirby’s proportions, older Kirby hats, enemies, dedede’s and meta knight’s designs, superstar character choices, and even the more down to earth yet whimsical aesthetic compared to the modern’s more colorful and completely cartoony/fantastical one. He just doesn’t hate it and is willing to make concessions here and there. I don’t really mind it, kumazaki’s vision in both gameplay and aesthetics is definitely going to be the main thing for the foreseeable future so it’s neat see sakurai’s since he hasn’t directed a Kirby since the last air ride (And I’ve always had a fondness for the cool yet gag manga vibe he created with Kirby). I feel bad for shimomura bros though, nobody at Hal will even do a spinoff majorly acknowledging any of the characters or ideas he brought to Kirby.

I mean I'd wager Sakurai still clearly has preferences for his own stuff but that's fine to an extent isn't it? Shimomura never used Meta Knight, doubled up on Animal Buddies and then doubled up on Ado (or if they're not the same person, then he doubled up on "artist girl character"). Kumazaki's obviously the most willing to play with history but even then you see Magolor (the most notable character from the first original Kirby game he directed) more than most others.

It's not like he's being strangely stingy with things like he was with a lot of Smash stuff, he's clearly willing to experiment with the stuff that isn't his and even incorporating a lot of minor details that a surface level inclusion wouldn't touch (expanding on Gooey's Dark Matter connection, making Magolor's ability and stats literally centered around letting people clear a path for you and then betraying them at the end of a race, referential color swaps). Some people thought he wouldn't even be in the game for mainly being prominent post-Sakurai but literally the very first bit of gameplay he showed off was him showcasing that he included Bandana Dee as one of the main four of the series.

It's not full on Star Allies "EVERYONE GETS PANDERED TO!!!!! WE PUT BROBOT IN THIS FUCKIN GAME" but I don't think it's really even important for every director to have that kind of vision. He's clearly willing to play ball and I think that's fine
