No. The good DPS armor skills have a max level of 1 and cannot roll with each other because they are part of the same group. You CAN get a charm with an armor DPS skill AND a weapon DPS skill but I dont know if you can still roll a level 3 slot with that combo and I frankly dont give a fuck to find out.

I can kill him in around 8 minutes pretty consistently.

I must say, Wilds at least has good enemy variety. I'd have made rompopolo and quematrice harder monsters (especially rompopolo; what a waste) and replaced their appearances with those of yan kut-ku and gypceros, but still - it has great monster variety. It's just a bit too easy. Took me weeks to beat freedom unite, but like a week of grinding away to beat the main story of wilds.

I spent two hours waiting around until a 9* 5 star Uth Duna spawned in and it was considerably easier than the 8* 3 star Arch Tempered version and basically flailed around on the floor and folded against my un-upgraded lagiacrus DBs. Thank you for bringing back difficulty Capcom

How do you guys feel about all the weapon changes in wilds? as someone who used to main hamnmer, I'm kinda confused by all the changes, but I suppose it's nice to add some variety. The thing is though, hammer and GS pre-world were all about timing and simplicity, knowing the monster well and preparing for when to attack. now, with all the new charge bullshit, it's all about getting to those charge levels as fast and efficiently as you can.

This new update is awful

Fights already took too long and now they will be longer and with a higher chance to fail. And I'm guessing the new 9* mosters will replace the 8* in the map like the 7* disappeared before. Not like you'll have the option to fight the easier versions after a certain rank, I fear.

Adding more RNG components to the game doesn't make it better. It just makes the grind longer. We already had RNG for decos and for Artian rolls, now it's talismans too.

And adding to that, the new talismans invalidate any effort put into completing the talisman collection that we had until now. Just like how Artian invalidate most of the endgame craftable weapons. Doesn't feel great.

I guess if MH is the only game you play this is fine, but for me I'm a very busy gamer dad and seeing this kind of updates pushes me away from it. The game gets harder and harder, yet new power to fight those challenges gets hidden behind a lottery and ever longer and harder fights. Not really sure I want to keep playing at this point.

It's really bad, yeah. It's far too easy. The monsters are just unable to compete with all the tools we have been given and in an effort to emphasise all the "comfy" quality of life changes, they got rid of every soft/downtime/"hunter" aspect of the game. I miss having one centralized village and upgrading the resources there. If they wanted some soft city management thing where after helping out the villagers you basically colonized them and they agreed to let you move your shit there and then made the villages compact spacially/content wise, it could work, but instead you have a few bits scattered around boring , big empty villages with no interesting landmarks and your actually compact, even more boring base camps.

You're already so powerful, so being able to also run away whenever to sharpen an do mounting attacks is so OP (and devalues weapons with aerial capabilities). Seregios is the new farming meta for speed imo.

It really does all come back to the internet connection issue. Almost every difference between mainline and portable stems from one series being designed around the assumption you have a constant internet connection and the other series assuming you won't have constant internet connection. The old mainline hubs being inaccessible without internet, the focus on dripfeed/festivals, multiplayer focused approaches to fight design/difficulty, and the strong push for paid cosmetics started with mainline too because you have to look cool online. Contrast this with portable allowing you to access the hubs online from the beginning, less of a focus on longtime dripfeed and more of a focus on a few big updates, giving the player more options to handle increasing difficulty instead of of relying on multiplayer, etc. It's super interesting to see how such a seemingly small difference can balloon into massive differences over the course of a 20+ year old series. About the only differences you can't really attribute to the internet thing are the stronger focus on story in mainline and the aversion to wacky monster designs. Both of those things seem tokuda specific though

So 4U is a strange half and half kind of game in this situation. It's mainline but designed for the 3ds so there is some portable design slipping in. You can access the hub offline and interestingly I think mounting was the mainline answer to giving players more power to handle difficulty on their own lol. It's just funny to contrast the approaches here.

I think it's interesting that wilds is taking a more portable-like approach to gameplay by giving players more power with offsets, clashes, etc and by incorporating followers from sunbreak. You have to wonder if they're doing this just because counters and followers were popular or if this is a sign of a serious shift in mainline gameplay design philosophy going forward. The novelty of the Guiding Lands wore off very fast though. It even feels smaller compared to other maps since it's just small chunks of each biome. All it has going for it is verticality.
