We killed Gallywix for seemingly no reason while Sylvanas and Geya'rah walk free, and then they wasted the final patch randomly hyping up some shitty TBC throwaway boss only for everything to return to baseline? Couldn't we just have started at Midnight and everything would have basically been exactly the same?

consider the karesh release sort of just flushing out TWW's plot lines. When metzen came back he changed whatever the story was at the time and TWW was already halfway through with the old story, that's why everything was so random and disjointed. Apparently starting where we already were is how they want to set up midnight, they just wanted to dump whatever they already had without continuing it which is why so many characters either did nothing or left quickly in TWW.
First 1/3rd of TWW was just whatever they had and altered some of it so they wouldn't have to be held accountable to finish whatever they no longer wanted to write, second 1/3rd was undermine and who knows what they originally was supposed to be so it was altered enough to feel like a random adventure, and the last 1/3rd was either underdeveloped or just not existent when metzen came back so it was entirely void stuff like what midnight is going to be.
World soul saga feels like a lie, it seems like the real story is whatever midnight and the last titan is and that TWW was just sunk cost fallacy with what they had already created so they just had to pump out something without screwing up what metzen wants to do in the future.
If midnight ends up being just as dumb then disregard this and assume it was always just blizz writers being dumb and not even realizing TWW walked a narrative circle because they don't know how to create a multi part story.

I enjoyed tot warcraft movie as a B fantasy movie. I also read a lot of modern fantasy books, Most of dragonlance over the years, recent I read a Series called Empire of the Wolf, it was pretty good.
Fantasy isnt a dead genre, but I agree that video game tie in stuff is usually second rate. Like if the Settin pre-dates the games it might be ok but if the setting starts with a popular game and then goes into other media, high chance of that other media being low quality/low effort. there's little worth holding long term in tww so just dump it now with the raid is it. raw mats aren't going a whole lot higher unless there's something like a crafted legendary coming again i haven't heard about. that's the only real hedge/hold thing now besides housing speculation. if you're already taking a beating on something then maybe there's a chance of a better out.

the other crafted stuff it's just about how much time you're willing to put into camping the ah day to day for highs and how much you have to sell. there's just a wide range where you could be doing work orders and selling in between or just go max lazy and put up as much as you think at a large gain for yourself that someone would reset through and walk away. no one can really solve this for you other than pointing out the general highs around concentration crafts bleeding off some early this week and then mats with the next spark. you've got a few weeks before the more casual leave/firesale things down and big players have had their fill of trying resets as the patch ages. less resets and less time with them holding at high prices so you're not scaling down linearly. anything even close to 11.0/11.1 highs sell now.

you really should be trading the whole time, at least from patch announcement then tailing it out to be 0 by the raid+2 months. even if you knew nothing about this game you'd practically be able to predict price resets by now just by looking at the current market, knowing what you can sell per hour, and watching the few people that run items. i don't even really recommend people do the hold it for the patch trading when really it's "just copy the big streamers" sell fulfilling collusion/cartel in raid markets. you're practically being scammed into not competing when you should have been selling in resets for 2 months. the safe way is about painting in the peaks and holding relatively little. like robotraders you should be very confident in the sales before buying.
