Best boys are Masamune (my GOAT), Sorimachi, and rapemonk. Best girls are Chachamaru and Muramasa. The edge peaks at the first chapter, nothing is really as bad or as shocking afterwards. Kinda funny that for all the talk about NTR, nobody ever mentions that Kageaki cucks his own dad. I think I like the story much more as a dark comedy than trying to take it seriously as a philosophical work, 8.5 - 9/10.

Having gone completely unspoiled by this series, I think I was most surprised that this game's story was more or less self-contained. I was sure that it was going to be split across all 3 games with Hakuowlo as the protagonist of all 3. I'm guessing 2 and 3 will be more contiguous and they'll try to tell a larger story? I honestly don't even know who the protag is yet, so I'm just guessing based on the general way I've heard people talk about them.
I think the great cast kind of carried the majority of this game before the final act, because aside from the strong start (I love a good civilian uprising), I didn't really find any of the secondary antagonists very interesting. They were all mustache-twirling evil aside from maybe the guy who thought Hakuowlo was his murderer brother (although even that was stupid when you consider that they razed entire villages for literally no reason). I mean the initial invasion from Shikeripechim was started and resolved in like 10 minutes flat even counting the "battle" where I just killed a bunch of defenseless Woptors... I think the event where Touka's doll gets broken might actually be longer than that, which just seems wrong for Tuskur's first existential threat after its establishment. And the flashback section to Kamuchataal (lol when she showed up in the epilogue like she's as important as my squad) stealing from the castle was literally hours long in comparison, despite never going anywhere or having any impact on the story (waluigi guy was unexpectedly funny with his battle dialogue tho I'll admit).

I think she and Kurou were the only major characters I didn't care for. Even the shota archers had some good moments like when they raped drunk Oboro. All of the main girls were great. I liked how different they were from one another - all of their traits and personalities were endearing in their own ways, with Touka being the unexpected standout for her super cute autism. Karulau trying to teach her how to rape Hakuowlo and it completely failing because she as so pure was probably my favorite event in the game. I initially thought Ulty seemed a bit boring, but I actually found her maternal instincts towards children to be really sweet. Seeing her say goodbye to the baby was much sadder than anticipated.
Oboro and Benawi were both great bros. Oboro had the best character growth of anyone I can think of, and I like that he graduated from the comic relief role for his sister's sake (Glad that they didn't pussy out when it came to her story).
Kino final act. The revelations about the setting's origin were way more interesting than my predictions about it being an isekai of some normal human from our world, and the emotional finale was fantastic.
I may take a small break before moving on to avoid burnout, but I'm really excited to see what they do with this in the sequels since I know they're considered to be better.
