I should have known better, but somehow I thought that combat would feel better if enemies didn't melt as quickly. I like the extra actions for them but maybe I should turn down the HP a bit.
I was also hoping someone would chime in with an AI mod but that might have been a bit too much wishful thinking.

I promised myself I would play other games for a while but one of my friend groups wanted to play bg3 so I got roped into another multiplayer playthrough, and man, this game is just so cool. I still love it so much even after 1000 hours. The music, animations, spell effects, voice acting, so many things just click so well.

What a privilege it is to play and enjoy wonderful videogames.

The entire point of the Vlaakith Avatar is her taking a slightly more hands-on approach and still failing. So when she shows up later and tells Lae'zel "heyyyyyyyy bestie if u kill Orpheus I'll make you my best chosen ever" it just reinforces how much she's trying to manipulate you.

I've always interpreted the fact that Vlaakith only TPKs the party when she's being mocked as a revealing outburst of her fragility and that every direct action requires a great effort of energy, and that slows her down in achieving godhood, like she commands the githyanki only because they fear her and that she'd rather command them than get her hands dirty, even though she's obviously a fearsome enemy.

A. that isn't how Wish actually works in the TTRPG
B. The Wish death is a joke from Larian that every autist has hyperfixated on for 2 years because Wish doesn't work that way (see A)

The Ilyn Toth encounter is him as a Lich. Level 3-5 encounter, fight and kill a Lich.
It's a mod, you gotta headcanon a bit. Maybe you're just upping the danger of the base game, maybe you're underplaying the enemies, etc etc.

Apparently I was supposed to do some quest before killing the main boss in act 2 in order to recruit the druid guy, also found out I was supposed to give some vampire blood to some drow in a tower but I'm pretty sure she's dead. Ansur was right. When you become a mindflayer, the "you" ceases to exist and it's replaced by the mindflayer. It's not usually a transformation where you retain your sense of self like depicted in the game, it's a complete consumption of the host which is used as fuel for the production of the mindflayer. Under the normal rules, Ansur was 100% correct. His friend was already dead, and he was just killing the monster that ate him.
Also, if you were becoming a mindflayer, your friend giving you a quick death would be a mercy.

However, bg3 changed the nature of cermaporphosis, and some characters throughout the game retain their sense of self. They explain that the netherese nature of these tadpoles changes all the rules, but it's unclear if this aspect was intentional or a story concession, since the player character suddenly losing control of their character wasn't something they wanted (even though that would be kino from a realism standpoint).

It's worth mentioning every time this comes up that there actually is a prophecy in illithid culture about an illithid who retains their sense of self after transforming. It's called "the outsider", and it's a doomsday prophecy that is supposed to spell the beginning of the end for their species, so it's interesting that the Emperor (and Karlach, and Tav, and Orpheus) all fit the description of this prophecy. I wonder if Larian was digging deep and referencing this esoteric piece of lore, or whether it was an accident and they were just doing their style of ceramporphosis where the person is still themselves.

If you think about it for a second, Stillness of Mind should indeed be a passive, not a reactive ability. Your Monk is charmed or frightened. Because they have undergone rigorous mental training, they can instinctively use a moment to end the effect - even though the metagamer controlling them might want to use the action for something else. Rules are not set in stone because the PHB says so. 5E allows DM flexibility and encourages homebrew rules. How the fuck is Stars Druid even remotely balanced
2 levels in, you get basically guaranteed unbreakable concentration AND a BA AoE radiant damage effect that applies radiating orbs
At level 10, it's doing like 20 damage a target almost literally for free because you can just swap between forms without using wild shape charges
Health gets low? Get a free swap to Chalice and heal an extra 2d8+wis from your first level slots. Btw you get free Guiding Bolts, so don't worry about using your 1st level slots for healing

It costs 2 whole levels so you have to weigh that against the concentration. Falling prone also still breaks your concentration without a saving throw. Those two levels mean you can't innately learn 6th level spells (Wizards can still scribe them). While not relevant to the concentration debacle, a Fighter loses their third extra attack if they take a 2 level dip anywhere along the way. There's always a tradeoff, so I wouldn't recommend it on EVERY class that concentrates. But considering you lose your turn if your concentration breaks I'd at least consider a 2 level Druid dip if you have a Haste bot on your team.
