Jack feels all but confirmed to be the 5D's cover in Series 13, but I'd really like for it to be Kiryu. Infernity needs to be completely revamped and modernized, the entire game is about using as many HT as possible and if played correctly, Infernity ends on all of 0, and cannot play any of the draw ones. I'd love a field spell that treats your hand as always being at 0, among other things.

it's not as much "win more" as it is just "win". any form of quick removal isn't exactly a high bar. and the mimighoul monsters aren't hard garnets, they're soft. sure, if you draw one you can't use maker, but you also don't need to. you can just special summon them using their own effects. maker just lets you set a mimighoul to your opponent's field off of the continuous spell itself since it searches backrow, and only backrow. still, it is indeed a pretty easy fix to make it not broken.

It's not even that hard to come up with some zany gimmick that hasn't been done before and could open interesting design space.
Like right off the top of my head, what if there was a Link deck where the Links wanted to go into the MMZ to point to the Spell/Trap Zones, and activating cards/effects in those zones allowed the Links to append additional effects to them.
Its something that hasn't been done before and would be a genuinely interesting gimmick with a power fantasy of having 3 things point at 1 zone to keep getting big value with every card. Turning Upstart Goblin into a draw 2 that pops backrow and a monster for example would be funny

Someone really needs to smack the card design team in the back of the head. Genuinely what the fuck is wrong with them?
To preface, Enneacraft is a nothingburger archetype. It's fine. I am not complaining about balance.
But holy good fuck, imagine introducing someone to the game and they see this shit.

I swear to god this one monster has every Effect Type in the game: Continuous (Pendulum 1), Ignition (Monster 1), Quick (Monster 2), Trigger (Monster 3), Lingering (Monster 3), also mixed with Conditions (Special Summon lock).
You need to keep track of monsters flipping to put your Counters on it, you need to remember you have an End of Battle Phase trigger, you need to remember the Special Summon lock that is applying to you, you need to remain concious of the fact that your SET monster also has an effect that only triggers during your own turn, and you must remember that battle position changes aren't allowed when the second effect is used.
I know the Enneacrafts all share a majority of effects, or at least 2 main templates. But most people aren't going to know that and will come across genuinely double-digit lines of text per card and give up.
Again, not complaining about balance or anything. Just that this shit is absurd.

Droplet is the best because it does something in all of them, as well as does something going first, even if it's not the single best blowout in any of them due to you minusing. The pseudo-spell speed 4 effect comes up more than you think in a format where a lot of decks are siding Solemns going first as well.

Quick play, good in almost every matchup except Dracotail and Maliss, VS or K9 monsters being stuck facedown is arguably better than killing them depending on what else they have on the board. Immediately either blows out Yummy in the draw phase or forces them to pop their Arc Light. The singular drawback to this card is it can be Ash'd, but if you're going second and Mulcharmy them they'd probably use their Ash their instead of on your book increasing the chances of it resolving.

Most Yummy lists aren't using the second field spell, so if you successfully resolve this you only have to worry about the set Surprise, which is more or less forced to use the revive effect which is easy enough to play around. Against VS/K9, it's good at punishing them for not immediately XYZing with Lupis or using Hollie Sue's steal effect when you're going first before returning to open gamestate, especially if you didn't telegraph it by grabbing it with Thrust or something. Mitsurugi variants not playing the negate trap lose upwards of 3 of their potential interactions to this card (+1 from the Murakumo tax) and you don't have to play around Murakumo's Raigeki anymore. It's only bad against Dracotail but even then it trades 1 for 1 with Flame most of the time.

Raigeki is the only card I actually fear post-board playing Yummy barring memeshit like Power Filter because it can potentially happen at any open gamestate.

Arc Light is stretched extremely thin from the Yummy player's perspective and the Yummy ED is tight enough most lists are cutting the second copy. Arclight is also never live at the start of your first Main Phase if they opened with Obedience Schooled, which is otherwise their strongest opener in terms of interaction count. Arc Light's comparative frailty also means they can't afford to just sit on it forever like someone could with a Baronne last year because you can just go into battle phase and smack it. Of course, this can be answered by a battle phase Cookie Way to flip your monsters down, but now they're committing a second HOPT interaction (and arguably their strongest one) to protecting the Arclight which further constrains the flexibility/sequencing that they're able to effectively use their other interaction points against you.
Unless Arclight's floodgate actively sneeds your deck, I personally don't give too much credence to protecting it game 1 as it's very high maintenance in terms of what the rest of my board space/interaction trees look like in doing so. Making a second arclight on your turn is, no matter the gamestate, always expensive if I've not already used both my synchro name HOPTs because it sends either 1 synchro+1 cat to the GY (Metal Marcher line) or sends 1 synchro+1 handtrap/followup (Star Ham line) which risks stranding a synchro name in the GY if it's not made late into your turn.
I ideally want to make my second Arclight when we're both almost out of gas to negate your last card and I want to use my first Arclight to negate either your playstarter or trade down with some high value non-engine like Called By.
This dynamic changes a little bit games 2/3 but not that much as I just assume you've got 1-2 more extra boardbreakers in your opening 6 and Arclight usually trades down the same way forcing me to use Surprise to survive the rest.

It's just that it's that it's a different production staff and that they do more with wanting to maintain characters having a constant presence, even the one-off duelists would show up here and there throughout Sevens and Go Rush. As a result, it becomes way easier for the characters to be more satisfying since they had a constant presence, especially the main characters. Some of the Rush characters have less overall ambition in what they want to do (like, say, Asana or Epoch) but having less ambition also means that the side cast don't need to have as much emphasis so the main cast can have the right amount of focus.
Gallop's team has a problem of introducing new characters and then completely forgetting other characters exist. Half of the reason people talk about "wasted potential" in GX isn't so much that the arcs of the side cast were actually bad, but that the side cast spend so much of the series doing fuck all that their arcs need to be scattered and rushed. People don't dislike for instance Manjoume's character arc as a whole, they dislike that the pacing is fucked with the arc being mostly realized in the first season and then he just sort of exists for the second and third season and gets a good episode to capstone his character in the fourth season, like 100 episodes after the last time he got any real focus. People still love Manjoume but wish that he got more screentime and his character could be explored more. Manabu is sort of like a Go Rush version of Manjoume and while I think Manjoume is the better character, Manabu was better realized since he actually was active through the entire run of the series.

samefag, also the reason I come back to Yugioh anime sometimes and will rewatch duels I liked is because I genuinely like by itself the stage-like set up of monster summoner duels that Kaz made the foundation of with DM. In a ritualized battle there's more time for a character to dig into what they're thinking or feeling and I think this format makes it easier to get more use out of characters (especially the antagonists), if the writers have something decent enough going with them. Anime writers aren't exactly the best and brightest but there's a few things (might even be called crutches) like this that I think makes it easier for them to have some leniency and extract a good moment that matters. Something that can carry more emotion in that moment and more easily sit in someone's memory.
There's many shounen and action cartoons I've liked and obviously many have better written stories and consistency overall. But with several of them the episode could often flatten out to 2 characters flailing at each other where neither side know anything about each other, and don't exchange more than 1 or 2 sentences of dialogue to know what each other's deal is. They're fighting enemy A or enemy B until one is knocked out and then the good guys talk or ruminate over the bigger boss(es) elsewhere they have to get at. Without the available room for a scene like the way Shun talked down to Sora towards the end of their duel

Also while the actual motion of the animation and quality could be very very inconsistent, I think within the limitations that the storyboard artists of Yugioh anime I'd actually place above average. Especially when everyone had to kick it in a higher gear for a bigger duel (except for GX sadly). Good storyboarders and episode directors who have a grasp of what they're doing, despite whatever the actual content and writing is, really helps out a show to land something, anything, decently
