Why only transhumanist?
There are good small changes to the mechanoids, a some changes to weapons and a big boost to ship and centurion shields recharge. Something about dryads and so on. And only the accelerated biosculptor and neurosuperchargers directly boost transhumanism.

My only doubt is that the author can start changing whatever he wants at any time and ruin the mod, but this should be simple xml patches that can be removed mid save.

Depends on a role. You can use skill genes to give your pawn +8 skill and a passion for it which is more then enough to stay at 20 effortlessly.
Shooter? A passion for shooting and good traits are enough. It is good if they can do art, medicine, social or research, but just cleaning and hauling is enough.
Melee? Only expendable neanderthals and absolute gigachads goes there. Everything else is just a meat to plug the hole or die trying.
Crafter? Crafting, probably building as well, but I can live without it.

I personally prioritize good traits youth and beauty over skills and passions because... reasons.

How difficult are research mods to make? I've been considering making a mod that also patches a lot of the mods I use to sort of "section off" with a few research projects (basically, 6000 or so research and maybe also a techprint or linkable building sorta like the multianalyzer that's a prerequisite for more advanced technologies) to split the Industrial tech age between victorian/WW1, WW2/Atomic age, and modern/postmodern

I've tried a full Industrial-limited playthrough a couple times now, but it's always difficult to justify not rushing straight to the most advanced weapons and stuff, especially in some of the mods I use where the research is really quick and with semi-random research you still can randomly research "anachronistic" stuff for your tech level if you get lucky

Guns Galore is a bloatfest but it has tons of cool shit, and the guy that made it is making more expansions to it

Vanilla Weapons Expanded has a ton of options and is mostly bloat-free since it's split into like 10 different mods across different tech levels (mostly industrial and spacer), with some pretty unique ones like Heavy weapons and non-lethal

There's also Misstall's Armory mods which also add mostly vanilla-looking weapons

Gtek's Arsenal and 2035 Armory are the other ones I use, the former has some interesting guns but it's also pretty bloaty and has quite a bit of overlap with some of Guns Galore's expansions and the latter is all stuff from Arma 3

I have a few others but they're mostly medieval weapons mods or relatively minor and/or have significant overlap with Gtek/Guns Galore

To answer your question, it was a simplifying statement. I actually have biotech and odyssey, but neither add any new melee weapons so it boils down to the same two.

Will definitely be getting the rest for my next playthrough though, this is a lot of fun.

My personal choice is to use blunt on anything above 100% sharp. A masterwork uranium Warhammer will one shot a cataphract through the torso or neck. A diabolus or war queen will die in 5-7 hits from that too. I don't bother much with blades unless I'm having to deal with 300 tribal or imp raids then I pop a fire foam and use a plasteel long sword for the extra attack speed.

Pawns can die if their consciousness drops too low, so if they are bleeding to death while starving they can die. Even more so if they are on smokeleaf since its a big drop.

Are you talking about bleeding specifically? It's giving you a timer until the pawn gets to 100% blood loss.

If combined with other health conditions, it can be shorter than stated, mostly brain damage, other organs, infections, smokeleaf, etc. The combined penalties lead to the pawn having zero consciousness which is fatal.

Not really much you can do about that outside of mods. I recommend the Death Rattle mod, which drops pawns into a coma at 0% consciousness before killing them.

When an elf comes of age, they get their own Gauranlen tree to bond with. Minla here is celebrating her 13th birthday and is finally getting her own tree.
She is the first elf outside of the original three to get one.

Okay, digging into this further, the barracks is more space efficient but there's an additional wrinkle -- in a barracks, the pawns will receive "disturbed sleep" moodlets up to 3x a night, for -1 mood per instance. So that +1 from the pod is a true +1, but the +2 from the barracks is actually a -1 in practice.

You can get a barracks up to +4 mood if it's big enough and pimped out enough, but that only matches that tiny little pod in terms of effectiveness. So, I guess the pods are the ideal way to go...

fucking yikes, only 4 of these guys were inferno cannons, I had thought I had enough setup with my own centipedes but I forgot you cant see past the ship part so half of them fired on my guys, the militors were also intended to run up to them and force them in melee but they ended up just getting blasted apart by my own guys.
