Obviously some manuals were worse than others. At its best, Western stories were merely condensed versions of the Japanese versions (actually most of them, and sometimes to its benefit to keep things simpler); other times, they're irreconcilable (Chaotix and Tails Adventures, and Sonic 2 to a lesser extent).
The official translations from Sonic Adventure to Sonic and the Black Knight got things mostly right. You'll definitely want a fan-translation for Colors (Wii) on, since the Japanese versions feel more like the polished final scripts while the English versions are like rough drafts in comparison.

His arc works inside 06 but it doesn't work outside of 06 because their relationship wasn't created nor changed by the events of his arc, it was undone by events outside of his arc, and their relationship functions the exact same without his arc. One thing IDW didn't really discuss (mandates? They hated Infinite as much as I?) is what was the impression the people of the world had on this monster working for Eggman.

Well it's the second worst boost game (worst is Generations 3DS) so gameplay wise all others are better. The classic gameplay is also done infinitely better in the proper classic games. So there's a lot of better stuff out there gameplay wise.

A lot of fans also hate the story, and if you're interested in why I'd recommend playing the Adventure games

Windlads being angry at the characterization nonsense reminds me of what Dragon Ball endured during the Super era.

The Toei anime had multiple moments of mischaracterization for Goku and some other characters that it became a trend to refer to the Goku from Super as a different character. And Toriyama supervised this crap.

And then there was the DBS manga, where Toyotaro wrote a very different incarnation of Goku, one that reminds me of the whole Metal Virus Sonic discourse. Toyotaro (or despectively refered as Toyble) is even trashed maybe more than Flynn ever was.

It does bring a certain nostalgia to those times being around here. Some things never change.

I told a friend Ratchet and Clank for the ps3 (my first experience with the series admitedly) is more or less what I wanted out of Sonic, as in, that cinematographic style of storytelling that SA2 did. I'm dissapointed Omens tried that and failed.
