We might not get fully human-like androids from the current architectures, but I doubt some new (final) architecture is more than a few decades away. We're close enough to the finish line that we can taste it, every country is going to be working hard at it even if there's still a lot to be done for truly human AI. That is, if LLMs aren't enough to get the job done. In theory they're indeed limited, but the big models can be versatile and have their weakness covered for when you add relatively simpler stuff on top.

The Rance card game I'm developing is coming along nicely. I've revamped the UI, and it looks much better now. All the game flow and basic rules are working correctly. Now I just need to create the individual effects, which will take the longest. So far, I've only implemented effects for eight of the 55 special character cards. Then I'll have to do the same for the skill cards, buffs, and debuffs. The more effects I write, the easier it'll be to add new ones, but I'm not looking forward to implementing any of the more complex ones.

That's bad. It's similar to Tenshii riots in SR but much worse. You will lose maximum number of troops on all generals and get riot attacks. Paying the AL allows you to get one new general, one harem girl and is needed for some happy endings.

It's not really a big deal, while you do lose max troops you get rebellions every day which aren't strong so you can use them as a free source of XP for popularity stuff, easily restoring what you lost. The general you can get from the church only has 300 troops if you don't lose some of your generals, making him not very useful, harem girl is only useful for her own good ending and iirc you can still get Sel "good ending" even if you told church to fuck off, though might be wrong since the last time i did a fuck off playthrough was 3 years ago.

Rules here are slightly different to VGL. In VGL we have a squad of 23, 5 medal players (with boosted stats) and either 1 or 2 goalkeepers (we currently only run one goalkeeper) but there are unlimited pre match subs and 3 subs during the game.
The 5 medals and the GK play every match and the rest of the matches are spread among the others.

In /vr/ League there are no pre match or in match subs and the 11 players selected play every match. There is a designated "saviour" who can substitute in any position during a match if there is an injury.

We wanted this team to have a slightly different feel to our regular VGL team so we have done this. Plus we have also taken into account some Kichikuou things - Shizuka is popular enough to be a medal and Nagi and Annis also polled well. These characters are mutually exclusive in KR so we are going to make Shizuka the 1st Silver medal player and have Nagi and Annis as substitutes for her and rotate the three from match to match. /vr/ League has 7 group stage matches so over a course of a group stage Shizuka will play 3 matches at the 1st Silver medal player and Nagi and Annis will both play 2. Likewise Lia and Satella are the 3rd silver and will play 4 and 3 matches respectively.

I think the rebellion goes too smoothly. There's not that much tension. The country is already set up to collapse and 90% of the groundwork for the resistance has already been laid. I've read a bunch of historical stories about collapsing states and Helman's collapse is realistic in some ways but goes too quickly and cleanly in others. Unfortunately the collapse of Helman is the entire story and the game ends once you beat the leaders, so that means the game's plot overall is lacking.

Also, just as Helman's regime is vanquished too easily, the strongest enemies are too. Stessel gets oneshotted, his superhuman bodyguard gets oneshotted, Minerva gets fought once and loses, Toushin MM appears suddenly and is taken down right as it's introduced. Lelyu is the only competent general for the regime and coincidentally his chapter is the most interesting for the war.

I also don't enjoy that the game is half a Mamatoto remake. Some references are fine but they went overboard. The final boss's theme music and special attack have no meaning unless you played Mamatoto.

The rebellion starts as a bunch of poor shitters committing crimes and assassinations; there are times the rebellion straight up fails, or gets used as a tool by others; the rebellion isn't just opposed by the regime but fellow revolutionaries, foreign interventions, and monster invasions.

Meanwhile in IX the revolution is a united front, they act purely as liberators and command stronger forces than the regime, they have overpowered benefactors like Hunty and Freak who have no counterpart, and they pretty much always succeed and never lose any progress along the way.
To be fair, they DID already tell this story (twice if you count III) so they must've been self-aware about this and didn't want to repeat themselves too much. But if that was a concern, why did they copy-paste so much from Mamatoto...?

VI and IX both have some similar plot issues, some where you can see the hand of the writer forcing the story certain directions, and some where they had to jam plot points in right at the end. VI gets off easier because it had a more ambitious story with more aspects and depth, so there's more for the player to latch on to. You could tell they had a game they wanted to make but ran short on budget and time for redrafts. IX has those problems worse than VI, but the story doesn't have much going on to engage the player besides character interactions. It felt like for the plot they were going down a check list of what they needed to happen before X and they didn't really care how it happened as long as it fulfilled those. IX is still fine if you're a fan of the series already because the characters get you through, but it doesn't have as much heart as the other games have and it's not a game you would show someone to get them interested in the series.

I take it that everyone wants to cling to Sheila as the only pure and uncorrupted part of the system, an embodiment of the hope that Helman can be rebuilt. It's a western mod. I think it makes some good changes to the generals and balance to make gameplay slightly more interesting, and there's a bit of added content and a raise the difficulty setting if that's what you're into, but the the quality of life stuff is what really makes it worth it. Being able to reload in the middle of a turn instead of the beginning is a godsend.
