Haven't played it either, but some of the plot points will not have the same impact as if you've played the first game. For starters, the protagonist of the second game had his name revealed in the game files if you completed the game in true pacifist, so him being in the second game is a big deal. Also Nina appears in both games and she already tells you her backstory in it, so there's meant to be an element of dramatic irony that is lost if you haven't played the first.Hyakki and the professor appear as well, and the professor is a bit different from how she'll be in the first game as far as I can tell.

I have a question.

While not as prominent as they are in the East, pretty much all Western regions have some mythology and/or folklore stories surrounding the perceptions of Foxes. When you call them a Kitsune, it makes them sound more exotic and fantastical, but given "Kitsune" is just their word for Fox the reason Western Fox Folklore doesn't really tend to stick out to a lot of people is because they are (generally) stories about Foxes which are called Foxes, and they don't have nearly the same level of supernatural ability as Eastern depictions give them. Myths and Stories about Foxes almost universally portray them as cunning and manipulative tricksters, ranging from malicious to benign, with their motivations usually being selfish. Most of the time, the Foxes are also interacting with other animals in their stories, rather than people. There's not really a lot of Fox Monsters, either. The West has many Myths and Folklore around creatures like Wolves, Bears, Cats, Dogs, Coyotes, etc as well as Birds/Reptiles/Fish what-have-you, but there's not a lot of very distinct stuff for Foxes.

Basically, if you made a Monster Girl based off of a Trickster Fox from Western Mythology, you would be creating....well, a Fox Girl. There's that one warrior god from Peru I guess. As far as creatures go though there's Firefoxes (like the browser that was named after them) and the Teumessian Fox, which was just a really big Fox destined to never be catched until someone decided to sic on it a Dog that was destined to always succeed in catching everything it hunts, which caused Zeus to pre-emptively turn both of them into stone to nip the problem in the bud.

You've got some, but not as prominent or distinct as the Eastern ones. Oftern they're tricksters or standins for wittiness and cunning, either good or bad. There's an aesop fable, a medieval satire and various fairy tales where foxes have something vaguely in that direction.

Outside of that there's the Teumessian fox, greek and destined to never be caught. It was turned into a constellation, which links it with the 17th century Vulpercula constellation.
Teumessian is also linked with Dionysus, who can be the funny drunk god or a chthonic deity of madness.
Vulpercula doesn't contain any prominent stars, but the Dumbell Nebula and the first discovered pulsar and fast radio burst.

Maybe I'll check my pile of 17th century folklorist papers tomorrow, those have many more local stories you won't find through google.

For clarity's sake, Harpies require the permission of the active Queen in order to both marry and be allowed to mate and have children. Reflestia was actively declaring war on multiple other races, one of which was humans, and it's explicitly said this severely impacted the relationship between humans and Harpies to the point none of them wanted to be with one even when they kept trying to ask. And Reflestia didn't care because she basically just kidnapped selectively chosen human men after burning human settlements to the ground to have them gang-raped and/or just build up a harem for herself. The average Harpy is already noted to be among one of the physically weakest of all the Monster Girls and she still forced their children to fight. She had no foresight, and it's pointed out by others around her multiple times that she consistently doesn't think things through and how despite her claiming to be motivated for the prosperity of her people she has zero faith in them and continuously looks down on them. Murdering your own people in the middle of a war when your population is already going down the drain on it's own kinda paints the image of someone who's iq is below the sea floor.

Their situation was undoubtedly worse there than it was in the Singularity World. The Harpies almost unanimous vitriolic hatred for her is really, really justified. The average Harpy is strong enough to defend themselves when they are attacked, and the Harpies as a whole are strong enough to defend their homes from any invasion by working together, but the average Harpy is not strong enough to engage in multiple repeated prolonged attacks against other fortifications being defended without suffering severe injuries or being killed. They also work best using unity and teamwork to bring out each other's strengths; Reflestia both looked down on her own people and didn't really "lead" them so much as tell them what to do. Combine that with her trying to fight multiple wars at the same time, which would require her to split up her forces, against very different enemies (the way you'd battle a human settlement is much different than how you'd handle, say, a clan of wolf girls or a tribe of bears), and the outcome is obvious. While she's a strong combatant in her own right and was able to come up with very competent battle tactics, she's a horrendous strategist and leader, and it's why she got so many of them (including herself) killed.

It truly is a tragedy. But thankfully, the Harpies have managed to recover, and she will serve as a warning and a cautionary tale to be passed down for generations.

Depends on if you like battlefucks, cause most of them are.
Parade Buster is a decent on-rails shooter except you use a sword. There's a lot of weapons but neither is that interesting and there is a parrying system that's even more broken than in Paradox. Only the more puzzle-like sidequests are good, though the crossdressing one has a funny story. The main story is okay but forgettable, and the characters suffer extreme sameface and have little development, with only the princess and the armored knight having some interesting moments. Lest works better in Paradox thanks to a cast of wacky characters that allow him to act as the straight man.
ROBF and sequels are pretty alright, though weak on the story. There's a good amount of work put into making it feel like Ragnarok Online including even the UI, and the character customization for stats and skills is neat. Only the first and last game got full translations, though, and Novissa's game had two random quizzes added to them to spite non-japanese players who pirated his game, so machine TL will be a bit harder. As for Tarsa, it's complicated because in the game you have the choice to romance her or not, so maybe trtr meant to keep it ambiguous if they were going out, but who knows if the bit of Novissa saying he doesn't mind was trtr's idea or Asgar's.
Succubus Quest is an old battlefuck so you'll have some trouble getting it to work. Gameplay is serviceable but nothing amazing at this point, though Rovissa is a fun companion. Really, Rovissa and Est are the most interesting parts of the game, but it's not translated so have fun using a text extractor. The music is all composed for the game, however.
Succubus Rhapsodia is inspired by Succubus Quest, so it plays similarly but you can't summon the main girl. Instead you recruit the different succubi to help you in battle. The story has an interesting twist and the succs are cute, but the strongest points are the beautiful art and great original soundtrack.
