Numerous game design choices that just inherently benefit ranged classes over melee.
On top of that, they have one of the easiest, most spammable, and fairly cheap skills in the game.
On top of THAT, they have a snare trap that roots enemies in place, making sure they stay at ranged safely.

Melee in general is just cucked and requires a lot of effort to make viable, but when you do they are fairly strong. It will still never be as strong as simply being far enough away from the danger you don't have to care.

Spear Stab and Spiral Pierce (lvl 1 ~ 2) to enforce range, Spear Boomerang to poke, if they pneuma you spear stab / charge attack.
You can dodge Asura on reaction with hiding even if they use Ruwach, if you can push them with Spear Stab beforehand you get a way easier time doing it.
Can also spam spear boomerang with a 4-card status spear, status go even through pneuma, if they're using an instant cast asura then they likely don't run too many immunities.

You still get Charge Attack on 2h-sword but your options are more limited.
Hiding still works, parry sometimes works, and you can answer with berserk on reaction too but that locks you out of every option after.
If you manage to make them miss, then BB will murder them extremely fast, if their cast is slow then you can bash stun them to death before they can cast.
Another thing to note is that you can use provoke to cut their casts if they are not running Orleans or Phen, doubles up as an Evil Druid check to know if you can freeze / stone them through effects.

Your best bet is using Jing Guai to have box of sunlight to know where they are, LK is a lot faster than Assa, EDP only lasts a minute so as long as you keep them out of their range but close enough to jump on them, they can't really reapply EDP without you having an opening.
if you're a Spear LK you only need to catch them once to spam lvl 1 Spiral pierce to lock them in place / force them to backslide or one shot them with lvl 5, if you're a 2H-Sword user is trickier because you have less range so you're forced into their preferred range.
Using Frilldora and Smokie cards is great here for wasting EDP time, Frilldora being better since you can move, this forces them to reveal you, so you get the surprise attack on them instead giving you chances to Bash stun, high aspd status effect or BB them faster than they can attack since Assas can't SB unless equipped with katars, which means their defense suck.

Actually, I'm wrong about the Charged Attack against pneuma as an answer to push them, forgot it was considered a Ranged Attack since it's been a while, it's blocked by Pneuma, so it's really only Spear Stab to get them out of pneuma / range.

You can still use it to surprise attack them under their own pneuma because you do still teleport into them, but that's a risky move, it does however work as an answer if they decide to start poking you with Throw Sphere since Throw Sphere has such a long cast time.

In RO you can use a large variety of pieces of equipment for varying purposes, and RO has had a problem with powercreep since mid-trans, with new tiers of "this is strictly a better choice than what is before" stacking on top of each other. That's fine for a handful of tiers, but then you're supposed to have the rare, unique gear with few sources. when your generic "npc-quality" tiers of equipment are outclassing super-rares, you have a problem. now the new stuff needs to outclass the stuff you released a year ago to justify putting it in the game, at a time when creativity has completely left Gravity.

You get one box from Ankou and two from Necromancer, they are 100% drops. I opened 50 boxes and got 10 armors/shoes. At random, of course.
In Renewal, those instances are baby tier solo runs that you're expected to run every day. But for us, those will probably require a small/medium sized party. And you're going to have to split drops between members.
So yeah, they won't be trivial to acquire.

In the Mors cave instance, the party is split into two groups at random and then stuck in place unable to move. From a fixed position, you need to fight back against incoming enemies that the instance continuously spawn near you. Those critters have Mora -tier stats and HP.

If you live long enough, you finally get to the boss fight. In there, you have to kill the Necromancer while it rains down Meteors and Fire Pillars onto you. And of course, it's also spawning the critters around you.

Isle of Bios is much easier, I believe a good DPS with a pocket priest can probably beat it. But that's just one box.
