IDK if it's changed much since DF but if you're willing to play Shaman I can't recommend Enhancement enough, it had actual spec variety that wasn't just "one is clearly better than the others!" and it had what felt like a really high skill ceiling that was customizable by giving yourself more or less abilities/procs through talents. Genuinely a blast and whoever designed it needs to be put in charge of the other classes/specs too, if they haven't gutted it by now.

It's all positioning; the main thing is don't position somewhere that you're going to die. Jobs like MCH and BRD are really easy to climb to BH5 now that assists give 4 BH apiece, so you can just tag people with a shot or two without having to stress over landing killshots. I don't really like that change, but it certainly makes for greater Battle High overall.
If you pick out a squishy to blow up, monitor their Guard, or try to set it up with ally CC or Analysis Air Anchor. Remember that enemy BH5 only affects their healing, not the damage they take.

Yep, really. What you might be seeing is the fact that if people can't Guard a MCH LB, they'll sometimes buffer it right away with Recuperate. If they're BH5 (more healing), a single Recup will negate a lot of the incoming damage as long as the MCH LB doesn't kill them outright.
Remember also that some casters have instant panic buttons even when Guard isn't available, like Forte on RDM or SMN's shield, which will block a huge chunk of the LB's damage.
If you're looking for the big squish, AST is the easiest target based on the current Frontline modifiers since WHMs can have shields. And yes, I have to track this myself since this game is poorly documented enough that this information doesn't exist, or isn't reliable, elsewhere.
This also helps to explain why you don't die on VPR at the moment!
