So the Hunter just causally drops that he has memories of being on earth meaning he and Keeper Aquilus are hundreds of years old. And they do absolutely nothing with it, it's just a throw away line ultimately meaning nothing.

Might as well post this in here too. Some datamining has shown that Bethesda appears to be doing some internal testing for potential PlayStation and Nintendo releases, however this does not fully confirm that Starfield will actually be releasing on either system. This corroborates a leak from earlier this year where a Starfield mod accidentally listed support for PlayStation hardware. And one should be wary that the modding experience may be limited (PlayStation) or not be present at all (Nintendo) given the past Bethesda titles that released on these platforms

Starfield, like every other TES game, is infinitely better if you a) completely ignore the main quest and everyone associated with it exists and b) mod it to add more content outside the main quest.

Not releasing on Playstation would be stupid. The only barrier is Sonys stance on external assets for mods. Creations arent essential. Least On Nintendo the game would need to be heavily optimized which is a bigger barrier to porting it

Starfield has enough noticeably unfinished content and plot holes to the point that you just know that they were planning to expand on it through DLCs in the future, and this coincides with the fact that Bethesda wants to give 10 years of support to this game. I think the real problem with this game is that it's far too ambitious, so ambitious that it goes well beyond the 3-7 years of development time expected for your average game, and so Bethesda thought that they should fully adopt the "we'll just sell what we got now and finish it up later" mindset that came from not only Bethesda's fanbase being more forgiving of how broken their games are on release, but also the early access model people have been paying into for other games over the years.

Not a bad product, But thats basically every TES game, and Starfield is TES in space. TES games are not revered because of their stories, but what can be done in the open world. Skyrim endures not because the story is epic, its because a zillion mods are available to make the game pretty much how you want it.
While I am not overwhelemed by Starfield, I went into the launch of Starfield knowing most people that were hyping it up either had no experience with TES or were not paying attention to how Bethesda works, and blew their expectations way out of proportion.
I have 664.9 hours in Starfield and never progressed the main quest at all, dropped off the artifact at the Lodge, left and never went back.

to elaborate a bit; I remember Notch saying he added the Ender Dragon and the whole process of getting to it in Minecraft simply to give those that needed it something to do. But it was never intended to be the main reason to play the game, and only a vanishingly small precentage of the player base (speedrunners) play it for such. Same with TES.

Didn't Bethesda themselves do just that by saying if you don't like a mechanic like space combat or outpost building just don't do it?
Already posted this in the last thread, right before it was archived. They were working on the game very late on Saturday night. Could mean they're putting the finishing touches on something for Gamescom. Or maybe it's a nothingburger.

if by "history of humanity" you mean pre space travel, then no, because the Aritfacts were not discovered until we got to Mars. If you meant after the destruction of Earth, that would make more sense, but its also not relevant. The entire point of the Hunter is that he really is not interested in the mundane affairs of humanity, and seeks only the power provided through the Unity. Human history would not show the Hunter showing up other than in some security vid of a fight with another starborn/proto-starborn. He would not stand out, just as none of the other starborn stand out in history, they dont care about it.

Given this, there really is no reason there should only be one of any particular starborn in the universe. There's no reason there aren't a whole army of hunters.
It always pisses me off how even the tiniest bit of scrutiny breaks apart the whole lore. Bethesda thought about the story of their universe for exactly one brief meeting and that was it.

Fallout 4 did get a vehicle outdate, retard.
>played starfield on release
>everything sorta blended together when looking at a desk because of the graphics and honestly the main town was a hassle
>that and other things made me quit
>but now I'm in an open world sci-fi RPG mood so I'm thinking about coming back and giving it a second chance
I'm guessing only Starfield diehards are left here so I came to ask, did it get better with patches? I know they can't change the writing and dialogue at this point but what about gameplay and quests, layouts and empty planets, did they change those? I heard that even Starfield and Cyberpunk made a come back so I thought to myself, why not Starfield?

Gameplay Options are available to you from the start, Land Vehicles are available to you the moment you're able to access a Ship Technician (you have to purchase the initial one, all the others you might add into your game are available to you for free), and I think you need to be at least level 15 to start the Trackers Alliance content, in which an NPC will approach you in a major city.

Not mentioned. Could be one of the surprises that always happen at these shows, but I think the chance is very low. Honestly that vague statement doesn't even guarantee an announcement would be made at Gamescom, could be literally any time prior to New Years. Honestly I'm hoping for a least a little teaser of the next DLC to drum up some hype, and it doesn't even have to include a set release date if September isn't planned. But at this point, if Bethesda doesn't just drop a trailer prior to December, then it will be an announcement at The Game Awards

I feel like it won't work as well unless they come up with a "new vertibird". The current model requires someone to aim and shoot and another to pilot the thing. It makes sense why you can't fly it while at the minigun. I guess they could have added the option to pilot it instead but honestly it still was one of my favourite features form the game even without the ability to actually fly it.
When's the new season out? Might try to cram another playthrough of F4 in before it drops.

This PS5 announcement will come with zero information, no release date or mention of included DLC, it will just be a confirmation that will randomly drop on the internet one day. It's technically possible to do this already if you hardcore fuck with the settings. Someone proved it by crossing a few landing zones on Jemison and they were able to reach New Atlantis. The problem is that the performance turns to shit and weird things start happening. It's something they were coding for at some point, but didn't finish the process. The logic exists deep inside the game, they just need to finish the work. Starfield can be a truly incredible game some day.

And that's par the course. Trying to have a decent discussing of anything in a place where it's actually intended to be discussed attracts obnoxious autists like you wouldn't believe who like to shit it up, see Dragon Ball threads on /a/. Starfield likely has quality discussions elsewhere, but it's going to be in places no one knows about.

In New Atlantis and Neon, probably. Everywhere else seems so backwards and barely settled that there wouldn't be a point. There's really no sense in these people who opt to live in a shared hut on a barren moon with no bathroom as homesteaders or whatever when nearly all of Jemison is uninhabited still. Hell, there are TWO breathable planets with edible food right there in the same solar system, with barely one real settlement. The whole thing is poorly thought out.

Short answer: Depends on their mood. Enhance exists, and now we can change appearance and Traits on Unity jump.
Long answer:
Are people of certain cultures/subcultures more likely to commit a Unity jump than others? Are the ones who grew up in a environment that, incidentally, practices circumcision, more or less likely to be the sort of people that would dare make a jump?
Does the circumcision persists across jumps like that implant from Ryujin? Or does the implant only persists across jumps because it's connected to the brain? After an update, we can change traits and appearances, what are the chances that some would choose to be circumcised? What about Enhance? Va'ruun sure doesn't really like Enhance, does that mean they don't circumcise? What are the chances there would be a Va'ruun Starborn given the isolationist policy, secret operatives (like Andreja) notwithstanding?
I'm unhappy to have written all that

That might be a good sign, but it might be nothing. Writing is half the battle, presentation is the other half. Compare a character in Cyberpunk to one in Starfield, how they talk and move and look, there is no comparison. You might end up with better lines delivered statically and robotically.

Steam recently added a means of sorting and filtering game reviews by languages. As you can see with Starfield in particular, most of the languages accounted for have mixed opinions of the game with 6 being more positive, and Koreans being the only ones that have a negative opinion of it. As Starfield improves some more with time, we might see some of these become more positive.

lol no. They're going to keep their promise to support this game and just leave a small side team behind to do some upkeep while possibly delivering some mini DLCs on Creations in between. Hell, the fact that both Skyrim and Fallout 4 have some development activity going on right now is a clear indicator that Starfield isn't going to be abandoned outright.

I feel like installing mods was an arcane process back then in which nobody really knew what they were doing. Vortex just does all the shit for you now, they really figured out how to make modding completely braindead, yet people still manage to fuck it up lol.

The main quest is gay and boring too but I don't expect them to rewrite it. They also need to make outposts more useful or at least kind of fun to build like the settlements in Fallout 4 but I don't know where to start with that.

Braindead AI on par with Oblivion (without the funny).
No cinematic moments like what youβd expect from a space opera.
Ship building works and is good, but itβs missing key elements like custom placement of doors and stairs, and also lacks variety in parts (and no, mods donβt count).
NPCs donβt have schedules.
Thousands of planets but only a small pool of POIs, so youβll end up seeing almost all of them within a few days.
Weapons, suits, and clothing lack variety.
Melee combat is terrible.
Nothing in the world contributes to immersion: screens donβt work, TVs donβt work, radios donβt exist.
Elevators are just load screens.
Even though the files for a complete set of rails exist, the NAT is still just a load screen.
NPCs donβt dock at space stations, so they never visit them.
Landing ships in cities are just set dressing β nobody ever comes out of them.
No one besides you uses the land vehicle, which makes it feel like people rely on massive ships just to move from the city to a POI thatβs only a few miles away.

There were no carriages around either, just those waiting outside the main towns. No actual caravans or people in carriages moving around, just people on foot and very rarely some mounted hunters.

Going melee with strong, fast moving, large, potentially poisonous animals is retarded, only used as a last resort. And eve then not like a melee attack, like imagine a spacesuit modification that electrocutes enemies that reach melee range.
Mellee combat is something that would only fit if you were in a mech suit like Ripley when fighting the Xenomorph queen. If they implemented something like that in Starfield then yes that would be good.

>clunky movement
The movement in Starfield is the most smoothest of all Bethesda games yet. So you're nitpicking with this one.
>small cells
The cells are the correct size. Sometimes you should be careful for what you wish for.
>load screens
The loading screens don't take that long.
>shit stories
The stories in Starfield are good, as they incorporate nuance. I can understand how nuance can be boring to some, but gamers who are more academically-inclined enjoy when entertainment is a bit more intellectual-involved.
>shit space everything (ship builder works though)
Space in the game functions as intended. There's no outstanding issues here.
>crappy gunplay
The gunplay in Starfield is currently the best we've seen in a Bethesda game.
>lack of clothing/armor/weapon options/variance
There's enough that it doesn't feel like bloat.
>boring "aliens"
While the aliens lack sapience, that doesn't stop them from being visually interesting.
>boting planets
Each planet feels diverse enough.
>boring fights
The AI is currently the best in any Bethesda game so far.
>>535997821
>weapons need to be rebalanced to feel less limp
The weapons in the game feel right for an RPG. Starfield isn't a shooter; Starfield is an RPG with shooter elements.
>the perk tree needs a complete overhaul. I like the challenges but a lot of them don't make any sense and are just there to be tedious
The challenges help with making RP feel practical, rather than being mere pretending.
>The main quest is gay and boring too but I don't expect them to rewrite it
The main quest isn't homoerotic, and certainly isn't boring. Maybe on a second playthrough the story beats aren't as exciting, but that's all stories.
>They also need to make outposts more useful or at least kind of fun to build like the settlements in Fallout 4
The settlement-building was neither useful or fun. You couldn't even place a fence without it hovering.

Melee fags should just give up tbqh Fallout was already pushing it too far and in Starfield, it's just retarded to see someone slowly descending from low gravity just to get a melee kill. Who are we fooling? A basic pistol would've killed a melee fag immediately.
>But this is a game
A game that can't communicate the fantasy of melee builds without going into the magic territory, i.e. using starborn powers or VATS, if it's Fallout.

You're supposed to unlock it by naturally playing the game.

The story wasn't universally panned for being boring.

Nobody is telling you to obey or think in black and white. Good and bad speak to the design philosophy and production of a game and exist on a spectrum. Starfield's systems don't interact with each other like you'd expect from any game and in a lot of ways are behind industry standards, while being full price, so it's considered bad. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it but enjoying something doesn't make it "good" for anyone but you. For example, Tyranny and Dragon's Dogma are bad games that I enjoy.
If you want to get better at communicating this without sounding like a retard, try saying "I enjoy it" instead of "nothing can be bad" next time.

That's not true. If you flip the experience progression of Starfield and make level 1 require the most experience, but unlock all of the best gear immediately, and scale enemies to be the hardest at level 1, that would be objectively bad RPG progression. If you disagree with that then you're saying there's no way to criticize anything other than "I personally disliked it." You can't say anything is "bad," not even a single game mechanic. That's retarded.
