So what are you guys expecting from Copen in GV3? Epilogue ATEMS was a free update and while short it was still feature complete:
>new moves to differentiate Zed's play style compared to the main characters

>mid stage dialogue
>at least one new muse song
>two unique boss fights
In the preview the only EX Weapon they showed was Whirling Chopper, which I suspect is the starting EX Weapon like Stellar Spark and Anchor Nexus were in his previous playable appearances rather than them copy pasting his entire tool kit from LAiX2. So we're probably getting new EX Weapons based on the GV3 bosses. Also supposedly either Aizu or Tsuda (don't remember which) said if he'd seen LAiX2 earlier he would have had requested gameplay changes, so I think they'll make those tweaks here. We'll find out for sure at the end of the month but what are you expecting in the mean time?

It was Tsuda. Aizu tried to mend the atmosphere by joking about GVs meme gameplay before Inafune assisted with that, but Tsuda was completely right.
I expect the bare minimum, I don't think they're going to commit the manpower to make the necessary refinements to make iX2 Copen fun. He wasn't designed at all for GV3, he was barely designed for his own game to begin with. I assume it's just going to be a straight port.
I guess they could make Overdrive a toggleable ability like in BMZ2 so that we at least don't have to deal with [EMPTY] again.

It's wild that Inti has never explored the angle of involuntarily pairing Copen up with an adept, not even in the iX spinoff. It seems like such an obvious route to take his character; The wildly contrasting personalities coupled with being the only people on the entire planet that can genuinely and consistently piss Copen off seems like such a goldmine for character interactions. You know, intentionally stepping on his landmines, but also with enough snark and intellect to bite back on his horseshit.

It seems like something that would be water to Tai's mill, but I guess not since they've had every opportunity to do so and still didn't.

The thing you should actually be worried about is the stages. The levels are all awful (uninteresting awful not difficult awful) for Copen. They could get away with just hard porting the iX2 weapons cause those are all really good, the GV3 Kudos system is for stupid babies so people don't have to complain about getting skill checked out of boost mode like in hard unless they're extremely funny. It just doesn't really matter cause GV3 sucks.

Like I said, a fraction of Zero. It's just a mix that inherently doesn't work. The entire sub 1000 kudos break shift nonsense with the "quick" razor is pretty much Great Value Zero complete with baffling design choices and only half the kit. The most annoying part is the Shinobi from DMFD was a better Zero than this, and that game already had its own Zero in Empress. Just a tragic mess all around.

iX2 has exclusive access to the MMZ clone as it came out 6 months prior. Who'd think Inti would give both their melee characters the Inti patterned 3-hit-swing™.

Tsuda (mainline director) said that. Aizu is the CEO/series producer who made at least half of the calls that resulted in iX2 having such a rough development and release.
It happened in a stream the two hosted a few months after iX2 came out. It was the first time Tsuda really got the play the game and he was openly critical of some aspects like how Copen controls and the restricted bullit dashing.

As for Copen in GV3, it looks like something they only decided to add very late in development, so I expect it will be a storyless mode like Dnizer. Also questionable if there's enough time to make new weapons.
What interests me most is that it might be a tie-in for a new game being announced next month.

No, it's actually useful, you use it optimally going fast in score attack unironically because it can let you avoid waiting out enemy attack patterns that would hit a rushing player like most Drill Guy spawns, and it lets you turn 2+ wheel combos into 1, move shit around on screens to line up double EXs in a couple places and like everything else it's cancellable into Whirling Chopper so you can keep going fast. And in the boss fights where you get to go for it it's free value.

Because GV3 was also in develpment and they were conscious of avoiding too much overlap. Even late in development Kirin could get dogvolt to zap the enemies she tagged.

Not really because that's a 20% bonus compared to Zonda's 40% and the way scoring works in GV3 means you can get enough for S++ early in the stage and then play like complete shit. The children were a special kind of pointless. I still couldn't begin to tell you what their inclusion to the game ultimately served. And Kohaku, while sex, her interactions have even less weight than Lola's. I'll give you the missing deets that aren't covered in the game proper. The reason Nova is such a huge dick to Gunvolt is sad and pathetic. Nova was an orphan like Gunvolt when Sumeragi nabbed him for their experiments. He craved affection and attention, even if it came from the scientists who were hurting him. Because GV was slightly more compatible for the Azure Striker, the scientists gave him all the attention.

Ironically, GV hated them for it, while Nova became massively jealous. Doubly ironically, the fate of the Azure Striker was to be a living battery, so Nova lucked out by coming in second place. The holder of Psychokinesis was intended to be Sumeragi's super soldier, so Nova was groomed to be an executive. Still, the massive inferiority complex and trauma from his times in Sumeragi's labs remain.

Secondly, adepts who undergo weaponization are less mentally restrained and stable. This is why they present exaggerated personalities when they transform. This is in the background shit, but isn't acknowledged in game until GV3.

GV2 is probably going to be even more weird to you. There's a lot of Zondafags on here who will tell you how she's one of the most tragic characters in Gunvolt, but you'd never get that from the English translation. It radically changes her into being a power hungry two-faced bitch by removing lines, twisting around what she says, and making her speak more like a snarky adult. Jap version has her resigned to the racewar and sympathizing with GV, even after he kills her family, whereas the English version taunts GV and is all onboard the genocide train. The other Eden members don't fare any better (see pic related).
