Thrusters setup, left or right?
Right - more space, fits 7 generators and fuel tanks perfectly. Kinda like how it looks.
Left - looks lighter, gives the back of the ship a double-bladed axe look and I will replace generators with gravcore power cells at some point anyway. Aaaand I like how it looks.

Personally I enjoyed the whole Caos when the first pawn got kidnapped and the subsequent mass teleporting after the obelisk reached 100%
The danger of mental breaks, and starvation also helped to keep things interesting for a while but since most rooms are empty or only have clues to the general direction of the exit soon the wait starts to feel tedious.
I do think more monsters or just traps in general could help, either that or just make the doors take only 10 seconds to open and give the 60 seconds to the crates with loot

thrusters should be "inside" your ship, they can act as a source for temperature regulation without your coolers being exposed and it keeps the thrusters themselves from being stolen straight off your ship.

This can also solve your shuttle issue as you can have a little outside spot inside your grav ship for it

Just shilling this mod only for the "Thief" incident, I disabled all of the others. Basically from off map a pawn labeled with a name like your pawns but not suddenly on your bar like a joiner comes in from the edge of the map and tries to haul off with something of value. Depending on value or RNG sometimes they just steal a corpse or loot on the edge of the map and its a nothingburger, but in most cases they'll just be casually strolling in and trying to take something from your storage and then the only notification you get is if they escape or if they're spotted. You can notice them yourself and order an attack on them or your pawns have a chance to notice them if they're in LOS, I think it depends on how close the thief is to them. It makes for funny incidents where you're watching the anthill and think "wait, who the fuck is that?" or wonder why somebody is wandering all the way over there during nonstandard hours. I really enjoy it because it's an incident that isn't an obnoxious popup or another fucking solar flare, or a manhunter pack you dispense of in 3 seconds then have to clean up for 30 hours.

I've tried this playstyle but it feels hard to keep the ship small when you have to consider your team needs to be able to last when the grav engine overheats in orbit and you're stuck for several days. On top of that, to reduce grav engine cooldown to the lowest amount you need to have a full crew and all the thrusters meaning a bigger ship is more mobile than a small one which feels unintuitive to me.

I wish there was more like it, not really sure how to put it. Medieval Overhaul comes the closest of any mod I know to making its tech phase basically its own feeling era of the game rather than just an arbitrary limit on what you can build that you idle past. It's a hefty amount of tech bloat and such but it also changes stuff like steel in the era it introduces making it so that it hangs around. I wish there was some big mod that basically did what it tries with more options to use and refine resources as things get more complex. Basically an actual progression system, I know some mods try to blend multiple ones together but they're so disjointed and slapdash that it doesn't really work. And also if mods would utilize the ability to not have something be buildable after its time has past, that would be nice, like obsoletion in Civ games

You mean gravship? You can uninstall and move most gravship components, including the engine, thrusters, pilot console, and all the quest reward stuff. You'll have to rebuild the foundation, walls and other things though.

There is a problem with this.
Raid spawns are gear sensitive and if you give raiders gear they won't use 95% of the time, it will make each pawn in the raid more expensive, raids smaller, and player loot bigger.
Or raids will stay the same but instead of having one good ranged or melee weapon, you will have two at the same time, but of terrible quality.
Also, the game doesn't do a very good job of assigning skills according to gear and most pawns in the raid look like they've just picked up a gun for the first time, while your pawns are fucking terminators with years of combat experience before you even start min-maxing their genes or gear.
And don't forget about the 33% more trash to clean up after raids.

btw, if I do a custom start with gravship landing method... and don't deactivate the quest for getting the core...

I'm surprised there isn't a mod that 'purely aesthetically' changes the appearance of what your pawn is wearing, but it reacts to layers in terms of what it displays. Then you can react to things missing without checking the gear menu and it just would also fit things visually disappearing. I guess it could get weird especially with mods inhabiting 'weird' layers and such
