You also have other healers in the group and when you get strong enough with gear you'll wish you were the only one for ez golden prases
Don't forget your AoE heals are smart healing meaning they target the lowest hp target usually. It's more about playing whack a mole. Most guilds don't do that "only heal your own group" shit and fights nowadays are about using your big healing cds at the right time
The only addon you need is one that makes debuffs bigger so you know when to dispel faster or who is about to take big damage so you can focus on healing him
If you run out of mana it can mean 3 things. The group is taking too much (probably avoidable) damage;The group doesn't have enough healers; or most likely you are wasting too much mana on inefficient shit. Try to lower your overhealing too. If someone is full hp cancel your cast. Don't heal them with the fast expensive heal if they will survive your slow one.
Also in lower difficulties there is nothing to heal 90% of the time

Yes. At the start you might fuck yourself on the worthless healing meters because you don't know when the big damage events go off and when to use them. Hint: retards try to snipe each other on the first big aoe so save yours for the second ones
Stay away from disc, mistweaver and maybe holy paladins. They require dps to heal and their aoe isn't as simple. You should be using your damage buttons when you have nothing to heal but they aren't a core part of your healing
Shaman is very simple but one hero talent is very mana hungry and the other requires frequent setting up. The class has a shit ton of situational buttons tho so hope you have a gayming kb or love modifier macros or having 6 action bars. God help you if arena is something you want to try
Holy priest is usually the default retard proof healer and very simple, boring to some. It comes with the downside of having to compete with disc so you will automatically become the least desired healer if disc is better.
Resto druid can be played reactively and still be 95% as good. You are essentially spamming 1 or spamming 2. You aren't expected to spot heal on demand so you can let the other healers worry about niggers dropping low while you drop rejuvs on whoever you feel like. In S1 I wasn't even using lifebloom most of the time and still got orange parses in mythic but the spec wasn't played a lot so it's worthless
Pres is very hard to learn for someone who HAS healed before because it's so different but it's easily the most fun healer if you can see past the dragon form and reduced range. It has like 3 playstyles to pick from so maybe give that a try if you are eager to learn

At least with literally every previous expansion, it never truly damaged the story. Things were just added on in each expac to expand the story, whether they were everyones taste or not, they were fine.
