1.12 has multiple, that's one of them. 3.3.5 has two, as far as I know. Modded 1.12 client is better than unmodded 3.3.5. People probably don't care much right now as they are leveling, but once they will take more time to setup their UI or do max level contents, they will see all the limitations of an unmodded old client.

As for what the addons need, it's mostly some extra unit and spell information that aren't available for addons in 3.3.5. Unmodded 3.3.5 is not as shitty as unmodded 1.12, but it is still quite bad.

Dutch wasn't incrementally in guru server capacity non stop all day like pve. Guru is medium on day one, not even half of the pve players. BG will not be popping as often on the PVP server -- it's over where people who like PVP tend to roll. So a lot of them will be inclined to go where BGs are popping all day non stop. PVP servers are also subject to faction problems. Which will be more motivation for people too go to where everybody else is. And as this process starts, people will see people leaving. Which is the main motivator for people to leave. It's a feedback loop that ends in a dead server.

The problem is that it's not Vanilla at its core, with tokens for world pvp, pvp gear grinding in bgs and arenas, other more modern treadmill type incentives you didn't see in the early era.
Also things like undead pally and dwarf sham are soft gamification tricks to ensure "balance" and lessen claims or complaints about faction imbalance, same with racial swaps at 60; it's all compromises for the sake of balance and QOL over authentic vanilla+.
And note: if you like that, it's fine, but it's worth noting the differences here for those who might care more about an authentic vanilla+ over a QOL and meta/balance focused "vanilla+" (really classic+ is a better descriptor for epoch).
If you want a genuine vanilla+ then you should play turtle, period.
If you want a more modernized classic+ experience with gamified incentives and reasons to log in, then epoch is the better option.

Again, I'm not at all favoring one or the other, but the lack of info here and treating them like they're the same is silly.
I thought I wanted to play epoch, but after a lot of research, waiting on epoch, I realize turtle is actually closer to the experience I want. And without my research and discovering those differences in game philosophy, I'd have played epoch and prob quit before 60, where turtle is actually what I personally want in a vanilla+ experience.

Whether you're playing on turtle or epoch, I don't think it's viable to play right at the start, especially on Epoch. The large amount of players is because of the initial hype which will wane off in the coming month. Also Epoch has lots of bugs. Ambershire on the other hand is full to the brim and literally unplayable. I also don't understand the point of having several realms right at the start which will almost die off months from now and be forced to merge.

it's not exactly layering, similar concept but the layers are based on your physical location on the map. the entire map is broken up into these chunks with their own phase so that way you don't have thousands of people in the exact same area, because technically they're in different phases of the same area.

Does the mob pathing feel really janky to anyone else? Whenever I do the fence hop technique half the time the mob bugs out and runs backwards when its not a mob that flees.
