Explorer is a -50% XP rate on everything. On a server very populated with next to no hyper spawn or increased item time respawn.
Turtle mitigates this by having tents make the entire challenge redundant and letting you dungeon grind.
No such luck on epoch, it really is just playing wow at half speed and I just don't think the devs actually did it themselves.

I love the 3.3.5 client and I love that my ms is lower on Epoch (100ms vs 160ms) since I'm American, but Epoch is already starting to kind of feel like I'm just playing standard vanilla with a few extra quests and NPCs. I did Wailing Caverns and that was great, but that's like 1 of 2 dungeons that got changed and then there is 1 new dungeon and then nothing else new world bosses and Uldum. So I can see why people would want to play Turtle if they haven't already. I've never fully leveled to 60 on turtle, since I would always get to around level 20 and then burnout since I knew I was playing on a server where most people are either doing HC runs or sitting afk at level 60, and the fresh is definitely tempting, but I just know I'm going to have those little stutters on the 1.12 client and the way castbars don't track properly is going to annoy the hell out of me.

Alright, ended up checking out Ambershire after getting to level 10 on a nelf priest on Guru.
I have been playing vanilla p servers on and off since nost, here are my thoughts:

Epoch pros so far:
>3.3.5 client is better, full stop
>Custom quests are actually pretty cool. Even just at level 10 there have been some high effort ones like the waterfall over northshire
>Tweaks to classes feel grounded, more vanilla-adjacent
>The wagon system is great. Seeing Ambershire level 10s on mounts is gay af

I like the 3.3.5 client too much and the faggy / girl behavior on Turtle is really what it comes down to.
Also buffed starshards are an instant dot cast on Nelf Priest on Epoch which feel pretty fucking good

The Dragonflight UI 3.3.5 port is terrible. You can't use class color for unitframes and it's buggy with other key addons like Leatrix. Unpopular opinion but otherwise I like that UI. 3 bars middle and 2 bars on the side + minimalist/clean look are the best imo.
