Original stuff works, but in this day and age, it only works if it's executed like petscop or valle verde. Creepypastas about shit like the theater or Mr. Mix only worked because it was easy to gaslight readers back then. Writing a story about an established IP is a better option. You will have to analyze the material you're working with and come up with something from there. If the IP is obscure and not many people are familiar with it, you'll have a good chance of tricking people into thinking the story is about a fake game.

The more i look at this teaser the more It doesn't look like OSF X. He lacks the jack o'lantern shaped eye sockets and the red around his sclera. the teeth are hard to tell. it may just be because its a different art style and osf is drawn somewhat inconsistently in "official" art, but this seems more off than usual.
