I wish the 'guides' out there had more info on these bosses and their mechanics, everything seems to just say "do your best to ignore the boss altogether and use lucid earrings and senpaitachi to exploit how the mechanics don't matter.

It's things I know, I just feel like I got tricked into ignoring mechanics for the first couple months and now feel like I'm racing against the clock to keep my bonus stats from the event.
I'm struggling with will's p3, it seems like any time I try to fight him, I get chain loop stunned and sealed because of webs, and they seem to spawn faster than my moonlight recharges, plus it doesn't seem like I can just sit and wait for burst to recover. I have the damage, I just don't have the skill, and I get fucked out of it. I've gotten down to like 1 or 2 deaths in all of p1+p2, they're pretty smooth, but p3 I just don't understand at all because I can find 0 worthwhile info on it, even back in the day when it first came out pretty much everyone ran in parties, and there's just a gap of that where everyone handles certain areas, to now where it's just "okay burst him in one go and nothing matters". I'm stuck in the middle and retarded.
Vhilla I just don't quite understand at all, obviously enough to avoid the strings, but I'm playing a teleport class (ilium) and there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for small maneuvarability so I have to just pray my tele is close enough to an open spot in the like half second I have to react.

Funny enough gloom, slime, and darknell have been super easy, I cleared them all on chaos/hard second try each. Slime was a little bit of figuring out but that was for normal, the others were just braindead easy.

That's what I'm having trouble with, I recognize it, I can even see the eyes, but sometimes my ilium just doesn't want to move or tele because he's mid-animation getting fucking reamed, and then I die and it seems almost like one death just completely ruins you, sort of like how magnus used to back in the day because webs stack up then oh well, nothing you do matters, you spawn in, locked, dead. The enormous CD on the skill stops you from clearing a path to be able to actually move from side to side around him, at least as far as I can see, because they come back faster than the skill's cd, so you get the three from one skill and that's usually about it.

slime is just a dps check, as long as you clear the minigame you drop your burst and you're fine, you'll know pretty much inherently if you can beat him, if you can damage him past his healing off-burst you'll almost always win.

for will p3 you want to dodge the little orbs and legs and bullshit so you build enough Will Meter tm to purge the webs and avoid a humiliating time out. paying attention to this can be hard but for a general rule, they never hit the same spot twice in a row. if you see a leg land somewhere, it'll be safe to stand there for the rest of that attack pattern, same idea as the p2 test. you don't have to dodge them all but you don't want to just eat damage from them constantly if you can avoid it
also it's fine to offsync your burst to make sure the green stink is on you when you do, the damage buff from it is more important

The minigame occurs again a few minutes later, so basically you just want to keep DPSing to prevent him from healing over what you did to him, stack up more rocks on the portals (most will recommend you pick one portal, stack it, then focus on DPS) and then basically just wait, then burst again when you clear again, and chunk him down.

I really wish they didn't abandon the ruined future setting and kept going with it until they had the entirety of Victoria Island recreated. It was such a cool concept that I remember being obsessed with back when it first came out. I remember getting to post apocalyptic Henesys was my biggest motivator for hitting level 160 back in the day, back when that was considered endgame. It's sad that we'll never get to see haunted forest Ellinia, Silent Hill Sleepywood, Detroit Kerning City, or Lith Harbor where the harbor looks like the Ganges River in India. There's just so much stuff in this game in general that I wish they didn't scrap since now they only ever focus on the hamster wheel that is increasing the level cap and adding a new endgame zone every 5 levels to compliment it.

Can someone explain what the fascination is with Dark Knight for someone who never played OG Maplestory? From what I hear, Night Lord and Bishop are way more insane so I was surprised to hear that it was so popular. The way it carries its spear is cool, I guess.

hyper body was actually extremely good back in the day since bosses didn't deal %HP damage, so many people would straight up get one shot by bosses without a dark knight giving hyper body. bosses also didn't have the death count system it does now, so everyone only had one life each and if you died, it was like an actual death (EXP loss and everything). so needless to say, dying while bossing was bad. also, AoE attacks weren't common back then (multiple classes didn't even have an AoE attack in general) whereas dark knight did have an AoE where they stabbed stuff in a small space in front of them, and for decent damage too, so they were great mobbers. this made them beneficial to have in training parties since back then this game was an actual MMO where partying up with other people was superior to training alone. there was also the idol complex, because tiger, the highest level player at the time, was a dark knight, then after he got deleted, fangblade, who was the first person to ever reach level 200 in GMS, was a dark knight too. so kiddos just flocked to what the "pro players" were playing

I’ve always been an interactive, P2W player. Never really learned bosses, the game, etc. just bought everything from AH. I was coming off a 2-3 year break to utilize CW and start brand new in Hyperion.

I hit 275(highest character) beat bosses I’ve never beat before, and hit emerald (my only obtainable goal). This was the first event I can remember for a long time that I actually did my daily story everyday since the start. It was fun but boy did it get old.

Marksman is a very simple to play and pretty powerful class.
NL is classic power but requires a lot of startup funding to get there, it feels insanely weak without legion and gear.
bucc is fun, solid choice, middle of the pack
hero is fine
AB is fine.
2m change coming up soon really throws a wrench in shit, most classes end up pretty close in terms of intensity of playstyle (excluding outliers cadena, blaster, khali) so really any class you want will be fine.
I'll say mihile, he's literally the trainer class, learn mechanics by just facetanking.

What is the intended way to progress beyond hvhilla? I can comfortably clear her solo now but the gap between her and BM seems massive. The BM fight itself is also very long and mechanically demanding, which means you need to practice a bunch to get it down. The problem is practice mode doesn't let you choose which phase to attempt and it's hard to find other newbies to do practice runs with. Do I just skip BM and move straight to the grandis bosses?

for p3 you just have to slow way way down, its a patience test, you have a whole hour to fight him so what you gotta do is burst when its safe and then just try not to take curse deaths when its not safe
he does the kick (looks like a slap animation) every 4 seconds and if you get hit with it you get white cursed and probably knocked back into a laser which is -1 life so if you dodge anything in p3 make it this attack, up/down fma isnt that bad

This is one of the main things that killed my goodwill for this game's writing.
I was actually interested in the demon's story back then, I wanted to see if anything cool would come out of playing as a former villain and what sorts of interactions you'd get with Mastema and Damien down the line, but it never went anywhere. The entire character was nothing but wasted potential story-wise.
There was probably a point in time during which they could've made the game more story-focused and it would've been nice, but they kinda just conditioned everyone into the skipstory grindset back then before suddenly pulling a bait-and-switch later and forcing you to sit through all that lengthy shit even though the quality of the writing never actually improved.
And it also doesn't help that they only really started making the character-specific intro stories longer and more involved after the game was already balanced around mules, so now most of the time you're making a new character it's because you want the link/legion but the game still forces you to sit through a story that you don't give a shit about.
