The only issue i had with the BFBC2 vietnam xpack was it came out way way too late into the game's life cycle and was dead about a month after it came out.

The only janky part of BF:Vietnam was the 'guided' missiles. They were definitely a downgrade from say Desert Combat's unguided shit, but it was a neat feature.

This was all at a time when MGSV, Witcher 3, Halo 5, and Destiny Taken King were all running on High Hype and nobody was going to choose a spinoff battlefield that should have been DLC over any of those, not to mention Black Ops 3 admittedly being the first CoD to really get peolle excited for CoD again on Gen 8 systems.

Open weapons also means that you don't 'need' to play recon for anything useful either since sniperfags are likely to just play support to resupply and heal themselves or assault so they can run a sniper rifle as a primary and then switch to a shotgun or carbine when they need to.
Even if dice went full closed weapons it still wouldn't matter at this point because they made carbines god tier, unlike how in previous games things like PDWs were simply serviceable instead of meta.

Its been this way for a long time. The kit system is identical to the one in Bad Company 2, which everyone circlejerks as being the "best" battlefield. So its no surprise they did that. They have no idea what to do with the medic class. For some reason the game HAS to have 4 classes. No more. Battlefield 3/4, medic and assault were the same class. Which is what it was in 2142. But then you have a bunch of assault running around with medpacks and only using it as a self heal. Not actually playing...support. In Bf1 they split support and medic up again. This time removing the "engineer" class. And putting the anti vehicle aspects into assault while support got the repair aspects. Bf5 used the same setup. 2042 combined support and medic again. And bf6 is carrying this over.

They should just have 5 classes. Assault (anti infantry specialist), Engineer (vehicle support or anti vehicle), Support (ammo, suppression, infantry support), Medic (infantry support, revives, healing), and then finally Recon (snipers, stealth, spotting/intel).

But yeah point is this is nothing new and they've been diluting the formula since Bf2. Them removing the commander feature, and then putting in an AI commander is absolutely wild. Imagine your target playerbase is so bad at video games that you need AI to tell them how to play. Found the leak again. Sorry wasn't 2024, it was Jan 2025. Its the leak that states the goal of EA is to release a yearly BF game. Which if you look at that timeline, isn't out of the question. They've come close to a similar setup before.

They're looking at releasing a full priced main game with limited single player, live service typical crap (seasons, passes, etc), and then a free to play mode like CoD warzone. They're aiming for a skin/cosmetic system like CoD warzone where its "wild and crazy". Which, if you look at things like the Santa in 2042, it makes sense. He said that Bf6 is dropping specialists and returning to core classes (which was right). He mentioned that they are putting in an AI commander that is simplistic where it just says "go attack this flag" if you're near it (this was correct). TTK games is where most of the old battlefield talent went, but I don't think they've released anything yet.

Like with all leaks, take it with a grain of salt. But the fact they were right on the AI commander makes me think there's some stock to the rest. And removing specialists was an easy guess.

Yeah I mean believe me, I was very against people paying for 2042 before 6 launched and I was fine with playing V, 4, and 1.
But this sale kind of changes the math a lot.
Whether people like it or not, this is basiclaly Battlefield 6 general, so 2042 being on sale for 3 dollars and having a battle pass to grind for BF6 content kind of does make it the temporary heir apparent.
So in a weird way I've now gone from saying we should play anything else to saying we should play 2042 at least for right now.

Do you ever play this game and think its astounding how bad most people are at BF? I'm not talking about autistic aiming. I mean having just a general sense of the game outside of who has the fastest aiming flick reaction time.

I just play a game of iow jima where my entire team kept trying to attack the enemy HQ. They sat there for like 10 minutes along the HQ section. While the enemy team held every single other flag. As an example. It just amazes me how dumb people can be. Those people who sit hovering in a helicopter above the map and promptly die instantly. Those players who sit there dying to aircraft or tanks while their loadout is all anti infantry. And instead of adapting and trying to kill said vehicles, they just keep spawning. Over and over again. In the same loadout, getting farmed. Then complain in chat. Or those people who refuse to flank or even spawn at spawn points that aren't exactly where they died (for example, a transport heli sitting at a flag back capping). Heck, even paying attention to your mini map is sometimes an ask for them. Bf6 is no exception. I can't tell you how many players I saw run past equipment in the bf6 beta. Anti tank mines, recon tugs, spawn points, etc. People just completely ignored them and ran past so many times.

I get frustrated at DICE for dumbing down BF and appealing to the monkey brain CoD audience. But holy crap is your average FPS player just a bucket of bolts in the head. With absolutely no sense.

nah its really strong especially in close quarters, you need to be strafing for it to activate so you build all your guns for mobility (precision while moving) and just constantly strafe

you can't do certain things with controller like prone camping with lmg since the aim assist isn't good unless you are moving, but it dunks in close quarters especially with shotguns which you can do really crazy scope magnet with for an instant tap right after you scope in

I played with a controller to being with them shifted to m+kb because I prefer sniping with dmr/k100
