I mean, let's be honest, it is partially true. It's not true to the extent that it's impossible to start now, or even a month from now, but it will be more difficult to find groups with time. It's not a big deal ultimately, but a lot of people don't actually enjoy playing WoW anymore and any minor inconvenience sends them into an autistic spiral. The people in the front of the pack are INSUFFERABLE, but they're good at the game because they've done basically nothing but play it for 20 years. There's enough change in things like gear that we can't be sure. PVP will favor classes strong with resilience already like Lock, but we can't be certain that the other balance changes won't throw it all for a loop. Kinda hard to know for sure right now, the preview they gave of some late game sets showed that they aren't against adding some game changers as set bonuses, for example the feral druid set turns Barkskin into a viable skill for tanking since you'll keep your bear armor modifiers for 5 seconds even in human form (so you'll even be able to use a Regrow/Rejuvenation on yourself for extra healing/AoE threat generation while tanking a boss).
Even the Wailing Caverns set has a final bonus that would be borderline end game raid viable (chance to inflict a poison which increases magic damage by 19 from any source on the target).

The only arguably annoying thing is a lot of the crafting commission quests will instantly grey out meaning you get shit exp from the turn in and usually the satchel is maybe an extra 5 silver on top of the cash reward. I don't know why they turn grey so quickly, I've picked one up and it's yellow and I gain (1) level and it's grey.

Why is that a big deal? I'm fine with a classic+ project that wants to make zone changes. Makes things interesting and fresh, can even change them again later as the server progresses or some shit who knows. As long as the changes have the vanilla sovl and spirit it's good. Epoch feels like a mishmash of ideas with 0 vision and like the game is trying to fight itself with the vanilla mechanics clashing with wrath client mechanics.

It's immersion breaking for me to have the game day/night cycle tied to server time. So that if I play during night hours, I only ever get to see the dark-mode version of the game. When I want to have an immersive night-time experience, I go on a walk or bike ride outside after dark.
