With the new thread here I'm happy to say the background for the Star Crossed World collab is ready! Theme-wise I think it should be a bit loose compared to last time, but if you want to come up with Crystal versions of your character, please do go ahead! Some general notes for those contributing.

I'm incredibly happy with how this background turned out, I haven't experimented with mask effects as much as I probably should've by now, but I definitely think it worked out for this, specially happy with how the nebulous sky in the Starry sections looks. I'm excited to see how this one turns out!

4chan can actually compress the images in multiple ways now, the one you're describing is different from the one in the post.
Opening it through the file header will give you seemingly the same image, but saving it will show that the file size is smaller, you'd still need to change the url or save the image from an archive site I'm afraid.

Adeleine and Ribbon probably have the lowest chance, because we'd be getting a bunch of upskirts and Sakurai wants to avoid that (he was able to avoid it with Susie thanks to her long dress). Also, it's rumored he disliked the more humanoid designs. Though some people were thinking Sakurai bias was going to be big enough that we weren't going to get Shimomura representation at all, but we got Gooey, so I could be wrong.
Noticing also that some of the character designs have been reverted from the Kumazaki games. Of course everyone noticed Kimg Dedede looks like Super Star / Smash, but also Blade Knight looks more like it should (sans size) and Chef Kawasaki no longer has that stupid Star Allies star on his hat. Also the Bomb hat is back to being a Sword recolor. I wonder if this will be the art direction going forward, or if this is just a one-time thing due to Sakurai preferring to have things resemble his tenure a little more.
BTW, Jet hat is a new design. I almost thought the thrusters were bases on the original Capsule J, but they're a tweaked version of Capsule J3. Maybe Capsule J4, but looks like they're keeping the enemy a mystery for a bit while longer.

Maybe something changed since I last checked this, but when I looked into this back when the archives were first impacted, I saw zero noticeable changes in the pre and post compression images even if I zoomed in to see the individual pixels.

It seems lossless (disregarding stuff like metadata and mipmaps and shit, which I didn't check), unless it's so minor that only some pixels are altered by like 1 RGB value or something

Ah yeah, if you want more value for your purchase I think the only bundles'll likely be Mario Kart and Pokemon for the year. We're still a couple months off though, so things could definitely change in the meantime. Seeing how well stocked the thing is I think there's no need to rush, at least. As far as we know though, yeah for a bundle it's either Mario Kart or Pokemon this year (and I see Pokemon lasting until like, next February so it can be the big bundle for the holidays honestly).

My random prediction: Adeleine will be in the game and she will be confirmed along with Wheelie Scooter.

Big thing is, I'm mainly just aiming for getting it around October since it will arrive a bit after my birthday and then I could just pre order Kirby and download it the next month. I have no real reason to even buy it till at least sometime time next month and, on my current pay rate, I'd only need to save for 2 weeks or less depending on how I end the month so it wouldn't be a hassle. Mecha-Kracko is one of my favorite boss fights in the entire series, entirely because of how much fun it is fighting him with Hi-Jump when he starts remaking the floor.

As Soccerguy said it would create a major disparity in options since dedede and meta have virtually no range by default and stat wise could and would be beaten out by other machines if not getting sniped with little chance for defense or retort. Instead I feel the middle ground is a better option:

Keep the copy addition and ride options but have each new member have a sigiture machine that only they can use(Starman’s is a cape and it’s just him running on foot, Gooey is dark matter themed, Cappy rides in his cap, etc.) these signature rides offer a differ moveset and additional moves but remove the copy ability as a trade off, offering a more classic choice with less of the advantages as choosing other machines but equally offering a rewarding extra style to each character. I’d say the signatures should all be leaning a heavy direction stat wise relevant to the Rider but that they are well rounded over all.

Except that example doesn't work, the head piece is 1:1 with normal Dedede, as is his main body. The main body of the mystery rider was formed from a ball of Darkness and it's form is distictly only barely similar to Dedede but is also showing traits of other things on top of that. Even his outfit is different from actual Dedede even compared to that version as he's sportting a cape(Dark Matter/Knight style), Several Belts, a more vest like chest piece(kinda more like a captain and more importantly a lack of a real face if you look closely before he shows off his eye. That bottom part is not a jaw or mask it's part of a Helmet.

The rider only looks like dedede in the vaugest sense of he's big and wears a circlet when this form may not even be his real one

I've never been a Bandana Dee fan, but I have to admit, the way Sakurai renders him makes me like him a lot more. Like he's growing into the legend and going back to his roots at th bsame time. He looks more cutesy like a Waddle Dee should, his posture is kind of stiff like a Waddle Dee's should be, but there's enough intentionality to it that makes him come across as very skilled, and that new spear design is just plain cool. The original, while interconnected, was pretty much split off into multiple side worlds all 4 players could explore separately. A direct translation based on current city tour would be using that rail like system to send people to other islands the normal way while a portal/door system sends them more the convoluted way or just to a different spot on the island since, as masterhero soccerguy says, the map is rather large and in it's current state squeezes in a bunch of different biomes into one space. Altering this lay out to focused more on 2 max and making indoor areas much more like the normal mazes with multiple exits and hidden reward areas is much more do able at least in the case of that kind of island.


It's odd to bring up but Smash run handled it sorta similar for it's 1 big map, while it doesn't look so big pulled out it was a maze while under the time limit and felt like a massive journey just trying to get from one side to the next even if you weren't trying to go up or down

metroid prime does this same design. it'd absolutely work with kirby, but it qualifies as metroidvania instead of open world
