Battlefield 2042 is fun. I forgot what it felt like to fly helicopters in a Battlefield game. I haven't even unlocked the Littlebird yet and I'm having a ton of fun. Infantry play isn't too bad either

I don't think there's many differences from BF4 to BF2042 but I don't really know. BF6 has some extreme movement sway on sights and it feels pretty bad, so I think that's already a massive difference. BF4 had a tiny amount of sway, maybe even just a small idle sway animation on scopes, and that was it. Slower walk speed in 2042 while ADS maybe helps as well with bloom?

The Specialists have less lore than a GI Joe character who shows up in one episode to shill the new toys. The No-Pats fighting for different megacorps would unironically be more interesting than the war between the US and Russia as portrayed in game. They're doing memberberries for campaigns most people actively dislike although I can respect them trying to give half a fuck about continuity. Presumably China just fucking collapsed because they're somehow not present in game at all. All the randon seasonal events imply the existence of these other merc groups but they're just an excuse to push fomo cosmetics. I'm the kind of person who will give a little attention to any game's story but this kind of half-assed live service storytelling fucking sucks.

Even if it's shit, I hope the BF6 campaign is the inciting incident for the multiplayer maps and they at most say 'Oh hey Pax is pushing into Asia so that's why there's a map set in Vietnam' or some shit.

Actually the M60 is a Medium Machine Gun, an MMG like its ancestor the MG42. The M249 is an LMG and fires the small 5.56 round. The M60 is a beefcake that fires 7.62.

Moderate XP means you can do:
- Mastery to rank 12 on weapons/specialists
- Weekly missions
But total XP is capped at 300/min. There's also a hidden feature where if you gain too much XP too quickly (such as on the 'full xp' helicopter loop servers) it will cap XP after a while even though the server is full XP.

People just lie and mark their servers as FULL XP even though they aren't because the people who play 2042 are braindead and don't just check the server tags lmao.

The fastest way to complete the pass is 128 players, no AI, breakthrough on redacted, with everyone spamming blasco jammers and TUGs and motion balls in chokepoints. This is so much faster than every other method but no one wants to actually do this because they're spamming iwo jima and bot servers to level up weapons even though you can level up weapons solo in breakthrough with AI by blocking the spawn and farming.

I brought it up the original layout because I found the original maps to be somewhat "interesting" than the reworks especially with how they explained their thought process behind 2042's map design before launch from a developer briefing.
Current Discarded's CQ layout is better on paper and I think it would've been better with 64 players, but with 128 players it feels a bit crowded especially with the amount of vehicles that got added into game just made it a clusterfuck just like many of the reworks.

Why not 3 classes

Assault - GLs, assault rifles, AT launchers
Support - belt feds, ammo/med crate, repair torch
Recon - regular recon but DMRs are locked to them as well as sniper rifles (they are in the sniper category now)

Carbines, Shotguns and SMGs are all class weapons

- A trinity system with strong class identities ala MMOs, with assaults being the tanks, supports being the healers, recons being the DPS
- Assault is extremely dangerous to both infantry and tanks, but useless without supports to feed them ammo. Gets preyed on and outranged by recon snipers who are the only ones who get DMRs and snipers now. Should have the spawn beacon as I think this is a good idea.
- Support is now the 'team player' of the squad, giving up assault rifles or snipers or explosives in order to use things like deployable cover, repair torch, health/ammo box, this is now the ideal class for tanking but it means you can't get out and rocket enemy tanks
- Recon having exclusive access to DMRs and snipers makes it more of an attractive class for aimfags, as well as all the spotting tools + c4 to be sneaky beaky

I never really liked engineer as a class, since it's a 'niche use' class that means you're either killing tanks (1+1=2) or driving tanks yourself for the repair torch. This guarantees that a tank you killed could have its driver/gunner hop out and shoot rockets at you which is gay as fuck. Alternatively you could do the BFV thing where when you spawn in a vehicle, you get a special 'mechanic/pilot' class which has the repair torch and a weapon of your choosing since vehicles are such a strong part of specific maps it makes more sense to obfuscate this as a special 4th class for vehicle maps

You could do the 'subclass' within these 3 very easily to give them more perks/extra definition:

Assault - Grenadier, anti tank
Support - Medic, gunner
Recon - spec ops, sniper

BF6 is going to be Battlefield as usual where the final product is far superior to the launch product. I'm not worried about the maps for this reason. They will probably get bigger and bigger as time goes on.

Battlefield 1 sucked dick when it came to map design and gunplay, so many blatantly OP guns and the bullet spread was atrocious and led to so many fights won by RNG alone, It didn't even have 100% accuracy on the first shot like BF V.
