There's a very interesting overarching story/world mystery we slowly get to piece together with each new entry revealing new pieces of the puzzle.
But the series is divided into arcs and each arc is set in a different country with a new cast(although old casts do occasionally show up).
Each arc has its own narrative focus that eventually loops back to the overarching story and drives it forward.
We are 14 games into it and while it's not 100% certain there is supposedly 2 more arcs left.
We are possibly looking at 6 games left for a total of 20.

You can skip the first two arcs, they are widely seen as filler arcs. The heart of Kiseki is the so called Erebonia arc or rather the 4 Trails of Cold Steel games. They are widely considered Falcom's best titles. You can drop the series after CSIV since the rest is more or less a spin off without anything relevant happening.

We don't know how Kai 2 is even gonna be like, but it'd be funny if Kai 2 isn't a payoff since we already had "Kuro no Kiseki Final chapter" and "Van's final episode". I think they really don't have much of a choice but to finish Calvard in the next game unless they really don't care about the fan outrage. They can give a payoff in Kai 2 and save some unresolved plot threads for the bridge game like Hajimari or we'll enter the final arc right after the ending since Kondo always said how Calvard's ending will be made with the whole series in mind.

The reality is this general and the cold steel haters just liked that the mc was someone else. It still has a lot of the trappings and writing style of cs but because it’s a different mc and different cast people will say Kuro 1 is godlike and that there are dead bodies that will end up being revived in Kai 2

Calvard arc has the same issues as Erebonia, but no fun aspect to it. As much as cold steel was bad at least the story was constantly developing and the main protagonist felt like the main protagonist. Calvard cast has more synergy with each other, but they have nothing going on for them aside for Agnes and everything basically revovles around the final Calvard game giving them any relevance. Van's outline as a character is nice, but falcom treat him like a side character in his own arc, everything about Van revolves around the love triangle with his hoes and the demon lord which might as well be resolved in the connect event or some shit.

So far I'm satisfied. The port is good, rearranged ost is good. On the downside I don't like most of the new seiyuus and you can't seamlessly enter the buildings now, but on the flipside there's no more teleporting around like in Edith districts.
Animations are mostly reused Joshua clearly has Van walking/running animation and his roll leap attack is one to one from Van in kai.

To be fair, a lot of modern PC ports don't come anywhere close to the amount of settings Durante's do. I do miss the little stuff from the Daybreak ports like the higher res minimap and dialogue portraits but I'm extremely satisfied with what Falcon gave us here.

In terms of presentation, yeah, but Kai combat felt way faster and smoother. Either way falcom really put an effort for the remake and it shows especially compared to Kuro 2 and Kai. Kuro 1 was their first game on the new engine so I can forgive some of the shortcomings and accept that falcom were figuring out their engine and putting an effort for it despite rushing to the release date.
