I'm not even sure what my greatest weakness is anymore, as most of my losses don't seem to stem directly from bad riichi/dama.
My peak rating was less than 200 points from Saint, so I'm not just going to quit sanma on a whim.
I suji count, but I don't keep track of constant tsumogiri very well in regards to dama detection.

Frankly, this part is entirely wrong. I have not read a single Japanese sanma book or article that has advocated anything close to this. You can't just assume damaten on turn 7 for no reason, and brick yourself constantly. If you don't win at least one hand in sanma, you're almost certainly last.

How I got to sanmaster:
1. Play sanma tonpuu for your dailies whenever you're feeling too lazy or cowardly for a yonma hanchan.
2. Retard push every hand. Either you get raped or you get 15 honba and do the raping, there's no in between and it's out of your control so just have fun.

Higher ranked players probably have an improved take on sanma, but for me the Eureka moment was, that sanma is about sabotaging dealer no matter what. i.e. never relinquish Tons unless you're getting tenpai or they're safe, always keep what the dealer wants when they're moving ahead, win quick, only be adventurous as South etc. Getting tsumoed in sanma is not that debilitating at the end of the day, the points are lower and no one's dying. It's no reason to panic about them being ideally for you at ryanshanten, so you should forcefully hurry to have a chance to win. No, fuck that, freeze the game and fuck them over. Your task as dealer is to kill people, otherwise it's to kill the hand.

Win more, deal in less. It's that simple.

And they most likely are not. If you have your efficiency and everything figured out, then it's really just up to luck at the end of the day. I think around M2 or M3, it's when you really need to pay attention to last avoidance and weigh your options slightly in favor for the safer route. You can post a log if you want, but it might not be helpful as you might not be doing anything wrong, this is an endurance after all, ups and downs are normal. I like valuing speed over anything, especially if the value is enough or you are in first, do try and pay more attention to discards as dealing in could be the difference of winning or losing.
If you feel stuck, you can spectate some throne level games and just watch how people play and see if you can like get some ideas from it, if your discards will match their discard, figure out why not and after a while you can like pick a perspective and hide the other two and try to see if you can visualize their shapes without the stress of playing yourself. This might be a bit overkill, but at least it preps you for when you get there. But for now focus on speed and winning, as winning is the best way at third avoidance.

But then I realised that both Saint 1s and Celestials play like absolute degenerates in Throne, because they have zero punishment for last place.
