Silver is the Nero to Sonic and Shadow's Vergil and Dante. He's cocky like Sonic/Dante and more serious like Shadow/Vergil but is more brash and impolite than Sonic/Dante as well as emotional, hot-headed and transparent with his feelings unlike either of the aloof main rivals. That's JP/Rivals Silver anyway, American Silver is just whatever the writers and voice actors think a 14 year old should be like at the time with a dash of Trunks.

CrossWorlds doesn't take place in those locations. The tracks in the game are digital simulations created by the organizers of the event. That's the audience looking at the races in these simulated worlds

IDW is a mistake. The fact that we have IDW fans coming here to say that the personalities from the games are boring is proof IDW should never have been made. It just invited a bunch of people into this fandom that want things that can't happen.

This isn't a value judgement on IDW. Not at all. The problem is that the games aren't going to adopt IDW Sonic characterizations. I'll predict the future right now. Ian will continue to write dialogue that Sega of Japan replaces entirely. When Ian eventually stops writing for Sonic games, people will wonder why the games following it don't adhere to the character development he created. The answer will be the same as always. Because Japanese side of the franchise has no intention of keeping track of American decisions like that. "Why is Amy obsessed with Sonic again?" They might complain, only to reveal that the Japanese version of Amy was still obsessed with Sonic in Frontiers 2 and 3. By that point in time Blade of Courage will be old enough to become a full fledged debate weapon used against western fans, rather than something people read for joy

So instead of making him more menacing like Shadow they went with a clash of personalities, Jet being more arrogant and self-indulgent, and Sonic being more cool, calm and collected. I do think a lot of the complaints IDW gets hit with are unfair. It wasn't meant to be canon in the first place, and Rivals wasn't considered canon for the first 3 years of its development. I'm not going to tell you you're wrong for hating that it's OOC but the things that make it OOC were inevitable.

At the same time. I think it is very valid to attack the dialogue for trying way too hard to pander to the twitter/tumblr crowd. I'm not even trying to say it's "woke" or whatever stupid little label.
The characters crying all the time feels like an "it's okay to critique yourself and feel" feels like a repeated attempt to play into popular character tropes on those specific websites. It does not feel genuine, especially when Tangle starts crying too.

A simple story where the new character gets to bounce off the cast a bit where the final act explores how their lore interacts with the existing lore. 06 made the mistake of focusing the new character's introduction on a dilemma that doesn't get resolved and establishing anything about them taking a seat to that for the sake of themes.
