I actually ended up going with a deranged setup: 5 Assassin, 3 Swarmkeeper, 3 Champion, 1 Hexblade. I ended up with a crit threshold of 15 (14 if I use the Hexblade's Curse).
Ethel had too little HP for me to test potential damage on but I still don't regret investing on the Hunter's Mark.

For such a technically rich game, not just in combat but also in planning, there are a lot of things that are really difficult to find information on outside of testing it yourself. I’ve kept an org file of note since I started playing tactician/honor where I just write down everything I ever notice as I play because having to look shit up every time I’m hazy is a pain.

Sadly it's because not everyone plays the same way and people who take the road less traveled don't usually take the time to publish what they learned.
Sometimes they do, though. A while back I found out that there are two additional tadpoles in an area I have almost universally never attempted to enter: the area surrounding the gate to the Upper City. Usually the brainquakes keep me from exploring that area but now I make sure to collect those two in every run. (for reference, I tend to casually collect brain worms in all my runs even when I don't use them. Just knowing that it's loot that I haven't collected drives me to pick it up even if I won't use it)

The gist of it is that choosing to kill them out of mercy is playing right into Shar's hands. The ethos of Shar revolves around forgoing parts of yourself - your memories, your connection with others, your emotions, even your capacity for love. Shar tells you that numbing the source of your suffering in that way is worth losing yourself - but suffering is inherent to existence. Running away from this or that pain may temporarily work (people do it all the time in real life by abusing drugs), but suffering never goes away. It's something you accept as part of living.

Still, stack up the pros and cons from a cold and logical perspective, if you must, and it becomes clear that saving them is preferable for Shadowheart herself. The alternative might not appear "wrong" per se, but I wager this is because the writers did not want it to be more depressing. Saving her parents is the "correct" choice because it is life-affirming.

Having an army do everything for you is cool concept and it is pretty strong too but honestly it gets tedious moving them all through doorways sometimes. This one especially. It's also really lame when elementals don't have a jump, only elemental warp, so you have to do it manually or they won't follow through gaps or jumps.

Tossing aid and hero's feast on them makes them even stronger, but that can make the game imbalanced so use at your discretion. Same with Shovel, you can break the enemy ai by stealthing, which starts to feel cheesy too.

The best level 6 investment for a bladesinger 6 is the sorcerer.
You lose nothing since you get full caster progression. Sorcerer slots can be used for bladesinger buffs that don't give a shit about CHA. So you get CON saving throws, metamagic (more opportunities to attack and cast in a single round) and powerful sorc passives like the diet version of Devil Sight on a shadow sorc that makes you essentially impossible to kill. I HATE how the game doesn't keep track of how you had your actions organized if you add or remove inventory items.
I have a way of organizing my hotbar, and I hate having to redo it when I briefly swap an item or when I throw the returning pike or whatever.
I just let myself get arrested in the city, and because our inventories were emptied, I have to reorganize everything. The way I think it should work is that the game silently tracks where a hotbar item was last, and when that action is re-added to the character's abilities, it prioritizes that previous location.
