Narrative-wise Super Earth is the cause of all of their own problems, from attacking the Squids unprompted to steal their tech, locking the Cyborgs in the cum mines for 100 years instead of buying them coats, and gene-editing the Bugs and fucking up a whole sector through greed and incompetence.
The Bots and Squids aren't the good guys though, since they're just as murderous and genocidal, even if they do have the excuse of "Eradicating a greater evil", since you don't have to mutilate civilians to do that kind of stuff.
I would say that Squids are more of an outright enemy, since the Bots are still kind of closer to a rebellion or civil war kind of thing.

I think you'd have had to pre-empt the invasions by parking the DSS there and blockading it before it began the defense campaigns.

However, due to the fact that the ongoing major order was bug related it would have been virtually impossible to sway public opinion towards parking the DSS outside of bug territory. And also the bugs were taking multiple planets at that same time as well.

statistically, we cannot actually progress the galactic war unless the game master says we can because liberation is based on current player percentage on a planet and is capped at a certain percentage per half hour. But the opposing forces can capture however many planets as they want at once.
