Right now it seems like Wind Knight and Marksman are the top DPS dogs, Oracle is more represented outside of sidimen ruins for healers.

Ultimately yes. You can swipe for auction house currency in a system very similar to lost ark. A lot of the things you'd buy in the AH are materials for upgrades but the upgrades levels are time gated like the story, so whales and neets don't wouldn't outpace others. Also casuals will catch up (except for one thing). In CN right now the gap significantly closed as players are hitting the limits of where season 1 progression is. Skill levels/refinement levels only go so high and you WILL catch up, but especially for the first month, you'll be behind whales.

The one thing f2ps will not catch up on is gold imagines. They're basically never getting a +5 gold imagine, and especially never getting one before the next season almost certainly introduces new ones that likely power creep. The f2p purple imagines are good though, and equivalent to a +3 gold. The initial +0 gold imagine is doable f2p, maybe a +3 gold too but idk.

It's not needed at all. But you need to keep up on your dailies. There's likely some soft reset coming with each new season, and currently the small time gates help keep things semi reined in.

Then again, SOME CN groups were asking support players to have the npc imagines (get hyper lucky or spend a lot of money) but CN supports went on strike because of that. Supports don't typically need consumables so they do have some extra resources to divert to those but it's not nearly equal enough
