Slavs are subhumans and in a simulator the only 2 coalitions that make sense having are NATO vs USSR from the cold war, with no or very little FOX3 missiles. That window of time where reliable all-aspect heaters, laser and TV guided munitions, and BVR fox 1s existed, but GPS bombs / high off-boresight / FLIR / fox 3s did not is the ideal time period for aerial combat kino. Yeah, but I don't know how big their team actually is nor what is the threshold for them to consider a module complete. In my opinion their M-346 is around 50% done, but I can easily imagine them fixing just a few bugs and calling it a day, since they never made a roadmap.
They also have other modules but if I have to be honest the level of details from looking at some youtube videos isn't that great.
Their F-16s are at the level where I wouldn't be able to ask people money for them if I was the developer. The CRJ seems to be a tiny bit better but it's hard to gauge the true reception.
If their M-346 will actually be developed further, introducing more MFD pages, the remaining HUD symbology, an actual physic based flight model like XPlane is famous for instead of the current FrecciaRossa one, and with more than 2 updates per year that hopefully will do more than only break stuff, then for me it was worth it. But if I didn't have an obsession with this trainer I honestly would've never looked their way even once.
I bought this module IIRC a year after its release and some of the bugs were IMMEDIATELY obvious from the first flight if you had even a little bit of experience with flight sims in general the fucking map was stationary so I seriously can't understand how the devs could miss those, unless they are incredibly understaffed and have cornered themselves with having to support too many modules. where have I seen that before?
Anonymous No.536267650 >>536269287

I think they are just going to do some cleanup for the code but I would love to be proven wrong. Their M-346 module would need a complete 3D model overhaul and a completely different logic for their FBW/trim logic with flaps down. I don't know what to feel about them as devs considering some of the bugs for the DCS MB-339 are still present a year after them being reported (same with the M-346) and they seem to want to focus mostly on their breadwinner, the F-35 which I think it's getting some A/G stuff but I'm not sure as faceberg asks me to log in to view posts.
Anonymous No.536269720 >>536270950

I think it's because unless the module you release keeps selling like hotcakes at some point you'll have to either find another source of income or go under. Same issue DCS has. I hate subscription services like the plague but their advantage is precisely that. But their downside is that the devs then have all the incentives to trickle down meaningless updates to minmax their cash flow.
With the Xplane12 M-346 I was honestly a complete retard and didn't read up on how the modules work there. I tought it would be that once I buy it I own it so in the future I could make a fully offline simpit for the M-346 and not have to worry about licenses yet I'm stuck with a limited uses activation code module.
As a customer either way you'll take it up the ass. and I'm now considering buying the F-104 for Xplane

that's because most Xplane users are "yes men" with stockholm syndrome for the sim. Believe it or not, just a drag and drop into your custom scenery folder and just a quick check the see if your sceneries are loaded in the correct order and you're set !
>>536740320
Sometimes i find the building models for Simheaven to be really low-res compared to the default ones, but for VFR it adds so much details and structures missing from the base scenery package.

It's ok-ish for VFR flight now, IFRs flights are really great though compared to FS2024. I do enjoy the night lighting and the airport scenery way m ore in XPLANE.

Comfortable maybe, but more unnatural because it doesn't track your movement 1:1 like VR.

>plane launched micro ICBMS are realistic

The only reason they are so OP is because they fly in a ballistic arc through the stratosphere. Thats not a thing IRL, no rocket taht has enough fuel for that fits on a plane, especiall if you add that the rocket has no pad to launch itself from and needs to steer upwards mid-air while also correcting for the planes velocity.
NO does pretty well with prioritizing fun over realism when in doubt, but these things are neither fun nor realistic.
Anonymous No.537083017
Regardless of whether they are realistic or not, tuskos were a terrible addition because there is never a reason to not take them. Piledrivers are vulnerable to missile SAMs, cruise missiles are vulnerable to SPAAGs, bombs require you to get close, while tuskos are strong against anything.

It's both. X-Plane has implemented "blade element theory" which tries to interpret the physical shape of the aircraft's model and incorporate it into the physically simulated object. I don't know about MSFS.

I'm cautiously getting back into virtual flying. Some sacrifices had to be made - my Warthog stick died last year, so I'm back on the CH setup and it kinda holds up after all these years, but A2A refueling is an exercise in frustration. Ordered a ChinkWing Orion G2 stick, the Hog throttle should do fine still, but all I got for rudder is the cheap TM ones and the CH which I really don't like.
VKBs weird press-down rudder seems to be the only thing available for purchase now, but they are expensive and don't have brakes, though I really like the compact form factor - is this worth getting after my next paycheck?

On to the next thing, which is what is worth focusing on. IL-2 was always my go-to sim, but you all know how it is - it's got some issues like not all planes FMs being equally polished, AI sometimes being stupid (when the fuck will they fix the bug when AI wingmen don't drop their bombs!?), but it's still the best WWII SP experience.
I checked out DCS the other day and it's just not good. Some warbirds still have a bit too much power, the AI still cheats and the DM is still lacking. Add to that the absolutely unrealistic planeset for the maps and campaigns and it becomes a joke as soon as you look past clickable pits and operating the plane itself.
I'd say fuck it and just play BMS, but I don't find it fun on my own, always get impatient and do something stupid.
God, I'd kill for something like Nuclear Option, but with WWII inspired planes

if you're going to dollar-per-hour calculate the value of your enjoyment, DCS is only worthwhile if you genuinely like learning and remembering procedures.
as far as doing the things the aircraft was built for, there isn't much to enjoy there once you've attained procedural proficiency.
the enjoyment value of missions is lower than the enjoyment value of learning in the current sim environment, so if your focus on value extraction in your limited free time is on action instead of checklists there's not a lot of juice for the squeeze.
an hour of flight time in a MiG-29 would always be worth the cost if you value action, it's high enjoyment return for the time invested

A lot of them died for that very reason in places like the desert or in the Pacific, especially after getting separated from wingmen and squadrons. Fighter nav in WW2 was quite shit in a lot of aircraft types, for instance the US lost quite a number of fighters simply by trying to ferry them from mainland Australia to Papua New Guinea - the last refuel stop in Australia was a field called Horn Island in the Torres Strait, and there's at least four examples of aircraft that crashed because they'd been told to find Horn Island, "keep going up Cape York Peninsula and keep the land on your left and you can't miss it" - from the tip of Cape York it's about 15NM and if you know what you're looking for, readily visible - but nobody told them they should make sure they kept flying north. This P-47 is one of two that is still on the beach near the town of Weipa, because they followed that advice, got to the top of the peninsula, kept the land on the left and kept going south until they ran out of fuel and landed on the beach.

The pilots were rescued, the wrecks were dynamited after the machine guns were removed.

Later in the war, single bombers would travel with groups of fighters for navigation support.

Frankly, it deserves its 66% rating on steam for having typical sim sins.
>absolute dogshit UI
>no dynamic campaign or proper career system
>training missions are utterly worthless
>radio is confusing and unexplanatory as possible

That being said, the sounds, cockpits, damage model, and flight dynamics are all spot on. Install size isn't insanely bloated like so many. The AI is good... in combat at least. It's the perfect level of realism where most of the important stuff is clickable in the cockpit (less keybinds) but largely irrelevant stuff isn't modelled.

I'm just playing it because I want something to do while waiting for the NO update. I've made a gorillion webms for NO, but none for this because I'm shit at it. Gamepads are not suitable for non-FBW aircraft.

It varies by country, Brazil has no VORs bar terminal ones with a ~30 nm range, but there are plenty of NDBs. Even in the US which used to have tonnes, and still has a lot, has really reduced them and still are, the end goal is to have the minimum number of radio navigational aids required for navigation, which means they'll be sparse but still usable. There are mods online that bring back navaids from the 50s when you couldn't swing a cat without hitting one.

I'm still testing it, stalls seem more realistic compared to MSFS, spins as well but I think they resolve themselves a bit too fast, especially even if you forget power on.
Depth of the simulated parts is a million times better in the Xplane version.
Within the normal flight envelope it seems like they are pretty close to each other, but it can also just be me that can't tell the difference. I've been on a SF-260EA IRL only once so I can't really recall much as I only did a couple of 180 turns which weren't great as I wasn't yet into flight sims at the time.
The sounds are kinda meh on both versions compared to IRL, even with headphones.

Thanks, I hope so since I've been thinking about getting some glider lessons even if they are a bit expensive.

with crosswind I always land like shit. Currently for rudders I use the radar elevation knob from my TM warthog.

I can't recommend it enough.

nta but ballpark for gliders here:
>~$600/yr in club dues
>$40-$100 towing fees per flight
>$15-$30/hr glider rental
>free instruction
most soaring clubs will give you an intro flight for ~$200-ish, but every club is different with fees and membership

They're not bad and supposedly they're working on improving them even more in the next update or afterwards, ridge lift is done very well and I've done more of that than using thermals. I don't like the aerotow though, unless I'm being an idiot it just seems to take you in a random direction at a random altitude and fuck off, I just stick to the motor gliders because I'm a wimp.
>>537759714
Yeah it's not bad, gliding is the only realistic way to get into flying as a hobby for most people, in Europe at least, it seems like loads of yanks have planes but they earn more money. Rental cost at my local airport is Β£235 per hour for a Piper Warrior.

Do you need a license to fly a glider in the US? Strangely you don't in the UK, but I don't think gliding clubs would let some random fly with no experience.

I know, welcome to Northen Italy, where our GDP is higher than 80% of Europe but our salaries have gone down year after year.
I was able to find a couple of other Aviosuperfici that were both closer to me and cheaper, but I'm undecided since the ITAF instructor I talked to kept praising this one school in particular ( https://acao.it/ ) stating that one of the issues with smaller schools is that they often go by the "feels" instead of going purely by stats and data for the performances etc.

I don't have a death wish lol. Not to mention there are very very few of those in the south.
It's the same with gun ranges. Here everything is expensive, but at least they are availabe. I still remember this guy from Puglia who had a Barret in .416 and could only shoot it once a year here in our local gun range in the north because not a single range where he lived had lines above 100m and would allow his caliber.

you need a license but no medical, same as balloons or sport aircraft.
US does most stuff by weight, so if it's under 155lbs unpowered it's considered an ultralight and you don't need any license whatsoever
