This fight is very easy if everyone just takes it slow and stocks up on dmg negation. The lunge is really easy to punish and when he’s doing his 3 ground slashes if you can get close then you can wail on him for free.

Gladius is the fun fight with Guardian, you can tank so much of his high damage bullshit and a lot of his moves keep him in halberd counter range with generous openings. plus you can ult to let the party tank his sword and charge aoes, had a great fight with him.

Cast speed might be a bit of a scam, maybe it depends on the spell but this is with and without 6 cast speed, 4 from two items + 2 from the talisman.

Left gets about 7.5 casts off in 10 seconds, right finishes the 7th cast right at the cutoff. chaincasting like this is also absurdly unrealistic in a real fight.

About the only thing cast speed should be considered for is getting out of the cast animation slightly faster to start dodging earlier.

The cap is +2 and fully eliminates the variable cast time of spells, equivalent to 70 virtual dex in ER. Now each spell has a different variable cast time and fixed cast time. Max cast speed is most useful on spells like black flame and lightning spear which have a relatively long variable cast time.
The vast majority of spells have a small variable cast time and will not benefit much from cast speed. How do I know? I played 600 hours of ER as an int/fth caster with a radagon's icon and azur's glintstone staff in my off hand.

Stopping, look at the stamina bar. I let go of my movement key(s) which also lets you chain multiple surger sprints one after another if you need to for some reason and if you're about to run out of stamina while surge sprinting you can jump at the last moment and keep going for like a second or two.

You don't really go by amount. Generally you want to end up around level 8~12, most likely 9ish, by the end of day 1 (including the night boss). After level 4 don't bother killing the bosses of stone forts or cathedrals as they don't give passives or purple weapons. Clear gaols, ruins, wooden encampments (the ones with all the wooden fencing around them), the castle if it's in the circle day 1 (skip basement if it's BBH). You pingpong between those. Day 2 you usually bee-line it to the shifting earth while sometimes killing the red bosses along the way.

Most of them only show up around the starting areas that are located across the map. There's a bunch, sure, but there's also a bunch of places you get set down at.

Executor and Ironeye are the two classes who benefit most from upgrading their starting weapon assuming we're not talking about Revenan claws. Most of the time they start with some sort of benefit to them such as bleed, poison, holy, etc. You can upgrade those and use em' all the way through if you don't find something better.
It's also a good idea to do a quick mine run if you're near one, especially so if it takes you to where you're headed anyway, on day 1. Purple weapons are big on day 1 and you make up the time it takes to do the mine in the time it shaves off killing bosses.
