My experience is very similar, but I did start with rerolling Kitasan. I did spend a bit over hundred pulls on Taishin and ended up getting her without needing to spark on top of getting other Umas in progress and statues for bringing up 2* to 3* for the costumes.
Currently I've rolled over a hundred times on Super Creek aswell wanting to try and patch up the rest of my SRs which have gone decently. Debating if I want to pay the rest for a spark, but not sure if I care about 1 copy of Super Creek unless really lucky on the way to the spark.
