This isn't that interesting, Anon. The AI (gemini) is drawing from Club Penguin. The idea of a 'unique, powerful Chao' is just lifted from Club Penguin and the idea of a 'golden puffle' or 'rainbow puffle'. Clutch is a stand-in for Herbert and Cream is a stand-in for an EPF agent.
On the other hand, this is still better than IDW and shows an understanding of the source material being targeted at children. This has coherent themes and a good protagonist. Clutch works well as a villain for Cream since he's unlikely to directly attack a child character like her. This shows off Cream's heart and empathy very well.

I honestly wish Sonic was written more like Club Penguin. The PSA and EPF are exactly how you do goofy restoration and do it justice for a kids series with tangible stakes and a fun light hearted atmosphere.

They aren't well written and they feel ingenuine, sure. But everything else in IDW is astronomically worse.
The stories not being interesting, the characterization being completely wrong, resistance fighter Sonic that's very unfun and feels tonally out of line with the world of the games, etc, etc.

You're right that Rise of Lyric was also dealt a very bad hand. I don't know about it not being inherently flawed though. I really want to say that it is, but in recent years I've been trying to give myself a rule to not speak with that kind of certainty of games that I haven't played and know little about. The thing about it is, the game looks completely unappealing to me. I don't see any potential. I don't see anything that would interest me besides the character designs, and even those initially had an extremely bad reaction from me (I've warmed up to them since, aside from Knuckles). The music is boring and generic. The environments are boring and generic. To me it has the same problem as Lost World, the game is ashamed of being Sonic, and is trying its best to not be Sonic. I like Sonic, so I have zero reason to care about this game. Even if this game was technically perfect and its vision was fully realized, I wouldn't care about it, because it not only lacks the identity of the Sonic series, it doesn't even have anything interesting to replace it with. The 3DS Boom game have the same problems, but not the technical flaws, and no one cares about those games either, so I don't think I'm alone on this. Both Sonic fans and SEGA (at least outside of Frontiers) have obsessed so much over quality on a technical level, like bugs or how tight the general experience feels, that they have heavily undervalued quality in literally every other department. Sure, Lost World is a solid game that works without problems. Surely everyone will love it, right? In reality it is one of the most boring, unoriginal, irrelevant, forgettable platformers that no one cares to play, while Adventure 1 is loved despite its many, many, many technical flaws (yes, even the original Dreamcast release is full of those).

They were perfectly functional games, and they were on most popular video game hardware at the time of their release, especially with children. The first of the 3DS games was marketed alongside Rise of Lyric, so it was basically everywhere.
No one bought them.
No one played them.
No one discussed them.
