Having played billy for a bit I have come to the conclusion (That I kinda assumed for a while) that as a tank or any initiatior I either feast or famine. Either I do well and keep up the momentum or do great, or I feed and I basically stay low the rest of the match, becoming a active spammer.

Besides, there are a ton of characters that don't rely on their guns to deal good damage i.e. Abrams, Lash, M&K, etc. combo bebop doesn't require aim, just one hook (which has a really big hitbox)

* Play it safe and farm your lane. A strategy I don't see used or talked about enough is stalling creep waves. If you don't try to kill creeps as fast as possible, then the wave won't really move, preventing enemies from pushing up to your walker without putting themselves in danger. Besides, the range for copying is rather short and requires you to go into a risky range of the enemy, by trying to copy most good ults you run into the risk of falling prey to that ult yourself. I see a lot of Sinclairs with passive-4 syndrome.
Like I get it not many ults are useful or practical to copy, and actively trying to copy an ult usually means putting yourself out of position. But if you've gotten jumped by someone you might as well copy their ult and at least try to use it against them, otherwise you're just a hero with only 3 abilities. But I see Sinclairs face off against heroes in close range, and just not press 4, like they're waiting for a better hero to come along who they can succ the ult out of.
On the flip side, I've seen a Sinclair almost kill themselves with Soul Exchange, so y'know, be aware of what your opponent's ult does before you mash 4.

How do I have fun in Deadlock?
I've tried multiple characters but I ALWAYS lose.
I'm old and slow but I somehow manage to have fun in Dota and CS (at lower ranks).

But in Deadlock everything is so complicated:
1. Projectiles for weapons have travel time. Maybe that's against aimbotters is good but for me who's already bad at aiming with hitscan now I have add travel time of bullet to the equation? It's hard.
2. Lasthitting/denying feels like extra bloat in a game already stuffed full with mechanics. Creeps should just give gold on kill and you can just shoot them to deny them.
3. Map is TOO complex and big.
4. Player pool is filled with nolife tryhards. Ofc it's because of closed beta. I hope release has more players.

Overall impression is like too much shit going on at the same time on screen. Reading it all and playing is harder than playing meepo/invoker in Dota.

I do hope Valve simplifies the game a bit. I really want to enjoy I really like aesthetics and voice acting it but it's too hard for me

This is too open ended of a question to give you any rules of thumb. Best way to figure it out is by picking one character to stick with, start with a streamer build and experiment with breaking from the order when you think it’s appropriate. There are lots of easy decisions (laning against Bebop buy reactive barrier, laning against Mirage buy resto locket etc) but the smaller decisions and build variations you’ll have to figure out a feel for yourself through trial and error. There’s really no easy answer, these kinds of things just come with experience. You can watch high elo streamers playing your main and pay attention to when and why they break from conventional build order based on enemy comp/gamestate.

I’ll give you an example: if I’m playing Viscous with an ult/generalist build, after my core laning items (regen/mystic shot/express shot/melee items) I have a lot of options. If it’s a gamestate with lots of skirmishing and i’m ulting in fights off cooldown I’ll get cold front/warpstone/cooldown ASAP to get the most value out of my ult. If we’re heavily in the lead and I can greed to take enemy jungle I’ll go for a cultist and pad my lead with defensive items like an early spirit/bullet resist to make it harder for them to pull off a comeback. Sometimes you’re in a position where your build would be most optimal if you saved souls for a bigger purchase like early phantom strike but it’s a close game with lots of fighting and your team is looking to push a walker or fight an urn, you would be better off playing for tempo by padding your slots with cheaper items like battle vest/emblem. Instead of focusing on objectives, farming or pushing lanes for friendly objective security you instead just brawl with the enemy heroes and try to gank them, usually near their safety lines which makes you get 2v1 pretty quickly. I think to determine this, you have to consider the power spikes for your character individually. Some characters power spikes come naturally through boons, while others come from ability upgrades, you should revolve your build around these points. You also should consider what kind of build you want. Do you want early game power to bully the opponents and start roaming for kills or jungling? Or do you want to take it slow and build for mid-late game power instead? 3400 souls (lvl 6)is the first universal power spike as that's when you have everything unlocked, you have 3 AP to spend (which can upgrade one ability twice or 3 abilities), and have 4 800 items you can buy or 2 1600.

Personally, from having played other mobas like dota, league and heroes of the storm, once you start losing just disconnect mentally from the game. Accept that it is no longer about winning, but about personal performance and making the enemy team's life as hard as possible. Is there an actually good build for Mina with a guide/annotations? I'm really not sure what the fuck I'm doing because you don't get to play in the mid and late game since you're made of wet paper. You also don't do much for siege damage, so you're not progressing the game in the same way that Haze or Infernus or Mirage can.

Echo shard trolley on doorman with duration extender is probably the most degenerate shit that's happened in deadlock in a while. His 3 needs a nerf for how long it can stun you or something.
