I hope so. Exploring the field was alright, but admittedly a part of it is that my initial class isn't jelling with me. It might get better with some of the alternative skills once I level up more. I could also do one of the class unlock quests to try something else. Is the ice mage any good?
That aside, the main thing I didn't like was having to spend hours trying to scrounge for exp to hit 19, only to realize there was a daily task thing that instantly gave me another level, so I probably could have been screwing around in dungeons earlier instead. The experience gave me massive red flag feelings because it reminded me of other games where I or a friend weren't able to do something because our daily EXP rations were slightly off from leveling up.

Pretty much all the EXP comes from story quests and those dailies, leveling isn't really a big thing you just hit 60 after 2ish weeks, and the last levels don't really matter for anything.
And yeah, the classes at the start don't feel good at all, it takes some time to unlock all the skills and talents which drastically change how they feel.

Well, in the beta it's going to feel weird because it's probably like 10 days, but if you truly involve yourself with ingame systems, guild, life skills, social events, the weekly rewards, seasonal, store friend/linked etc currency, work on your class power, the trials, the tower, the images, unlocking map, unlocking extra steps/gliding. It's soooooooooooo much and it slowly opens up thru the days, it's actually a very good balance, it lets you focus in other activities.
Certainly you didn't come with a clean mind into it, probably spoiled from other games or expectations, it's still a f2p and no one forces you to play it though.
