From personal experience pace chasers kinda struggle if there aren't at least 2 front runners
Rice has a bit few skills but should be fine i guess.
matikanefukukitaru has a bit low stamina/guts, same with Teio. You will just fall prey to a single debuffer basically.
I have the feeling these 3 uma could perform decently if they had slightly better stats and skills and maybe if you had 2 front runners and 1 pace chaser

Raising horses for CM is one of the only things to actually do though.
Having a specific track and season to try train a horse to master is pretty fun and keeps the gameplay loop a little fresher than just doing whatever lazy shit for team trials, spark farming or fan farming.
It adds a specific goal and target to aim for.
