The gameplay loop revolves around you switching your characters in and out but the frequency of it depends on the encounter and the characters you are playing. You will always want to have characters swapping in and out to maximize buffs and debuffs even if you have a primary on field like Miyabi.

Specifically Ben and Pan Yinhu are not the guys you have on field, Ben is straight up the worst agent in the game and Pan Yinhu in a Yixuan/Fufu team is basically filler to heal and buff Yixuan occasionally.

Depending on the stun character you will have them on field more. Fufu in specific is mostly an off-field character that you only swap in to refresh buffs and stun.
