I've always thought it was a bit of a shame that there was never an option to on foot tracks or city while using Abilities just for fun for a little while. It was always the one shame I could never pass. I think some people can't resonate with Adeleine because she's not what they want out of Kirby. Kirby is mostly known for being very high concept and highly expressive with cutest little aliens, and Adeleine is clearly not that. All Kirby is pretty fantastical and cartoony at a DNA level, including Adeleine, but Shimomura (not always but for every character but generally) tended to go with a more laid back, nostalgic, whistful, down-to-Earth style. On the other hand, Sakurai tended to make things more action-themed and bombastic, and the other directors continued to lean in that direction. Adeleine took Shimomura's distinct sensibilities the furthest, and as a result her vibe is very subtle, unassuming, and understated. But also very positive in a distinct way, which is why a lot of other people love her. I like to thing Kirby has as much room for her as it does for the bigger characters. Adeleine at her best is a foil for the rest of the cast anyway, Kirby 64's slots showed she's great as a supporting character.

Yes, I will agree. Adeleine sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the universe especially post-Shimomura, but presumably that was also kinda the point to begin with in adding a prominent human character. And yes, also as you say this in fact ends up being a positive that makes her so striking and interesting for many people, even if her role in the games so far has been brief and subdued. She has quiet a niche that no other character can match, even if it is a somewhat simple one.

Nintendo's non-game divisions seem to work differently. I think it comes down to an international publisher approaching them with a good profile and reputation and pitching the idea to them. I think that's what happened with the mangas, really. There's also a few things like printing standards in the US vs Japan (average pay size and how willing printing houses would even be to match the Japanese print proportions if not the size itself), formatting, etc. There's also the thing with formatting probably altering the presentation of the novels in combination with how things are written in English VS Japanese leading to different page counts. More complex process than you'd think, unfortunately. For what it's worth, I think they did make a deal with some Korean and Chinese publishers for translations to those languages, so that could be an opening for book publishers overseas.

You're probably right, I usually don't engage with this but waking up to the thread going at 3x the speed it usually does and like 3/4 of that being just Ado shitflinging gets incredibly tiresome. Everything about this "Bandana VS Ado" thing feels terribly inorganic and it sucks. I like both characters, Ado may not be my favorite by a longshot but she's genuinely a neat character and I like her artist shtick, same goes for Bandana Dee and his underdog "mook-turned-hero" thing. They're both characters I enjoy and I think are great additions to the series, it sucks seeing people force this inorganic "beef" between them. And this wasn't happening much at all during the quieter days leading up to the Air Riders direct, I remember some nice discussion about Ado in fact. I was there on /v/ when the Adeleine/Bandana Dee rivalry was born. Because I'm the one who started it and I'm the one who lead the Adofag uprising that sparked her resurgence in popularity across the Internet, although admittedly BitF and Pixiv artists laid much of the groundwork first, I merely utilized it. Even when we showed our support for her in simple ways like wanting her in Smash we were shouted down by other fans for being "wrong" somehow... Yeah, honestly. It's a simple game but not egregious or anything, the character creator and unlocking all the cosmetic pieces was very fun, it's a pretty cozy ride. Had fun making different characters from other series to see how they'd look in an "official" Sonic style and experimenting with Wispon setups. I do agree that the story was a bit weaker than I'd like (specially the Chaos and Shadow clones, they could've done more with it), but overall it was a nice segue into the stories taking themselves a bit more seriously after having been more campy up to that point. I liked the visual direction of the war-torn locales too, pretty unique for the series, good music too though that's the usual. It's not a particularly "great" game in the series or anything, but I think it's a good enough game really. Just kinda basic. Before you think I'm just a fan of "nushit" or whatever, I played SA2B a lot as a kid and was one of the coolest things to me with the different plot threads crossing over each other and the different locations in it. I definitely fell into the camp of "Shadow is the coolest idea ever", hell I was jealous of a cousin getting Shadow the Hedgehog since parents wouldn't let me get it due to the guns and all. Main complaint I can think of with it was the sound mixing on the reticle for Eggman and Tails, really, other than that damn good game I revisit every now and again, still have that old copy of it.

Normal fags make up the majority of anyone who isn't dedicated to playing a lot of sonic and I'd dare say I tolerate them because 90% of what the vocal side of Sonic fans want is just Classic sonic. Even 80% or so of fan games are just classic styled so I accepted long ago that the line of taste and which sonic games are noted as the bad ones are any that aren't classic with few inbetweens like final update Frontiers and SxSG. Those same people tend to suck at Sonic Advance too. Funny that Frontiers tried to actually do challenge and people sucked so bad at it the devs made it way easier because people sucked that bad and SEGA didn't want them filtered. The grand collective got skill checked and now we SEGA kinda knows that people can't handle anything a tad too hard from sonic.

Kirby and modern Mario are ironically semi normal fag games as it's klnda hard to die let alone fail in the games unless you are in the challenge stages.

On the topic of Movie 3, it was quite good but it's semi rushed in some spots due to run time, solid movie though and the rushed bits never take too far away from the rest.

NTA but for me, I grew up with the plus collection and advanced 3 + Rush. I firmly believe that the boost formula just fundamentally doesn't work in 3D because Rush has the formula work fine because your stuck with very constrained directions. I also feel Advance really improved the classic formula since it rewarded good play more with boostmentum and the skill check was keeping that speed with your many moves. The people will never admit this though so I will never get Advanced 4 and am stuck with SEGA always trying to make new classic slop at this point

That's fair, we've all got our preferences after all. My personal favorite style is Rush but the handheld stuff is always kinda forgotten, which is a shame. I like all kinds of Sonic really, I just think the series is neat and like all the approaches to it there've been, the game design the series allows for feels pretty open for all those explorations and I think all styles have their value. I think I got a sampling of everything basically, grew up on Rush, Mega Collection, SA2B all at the same time, couldn't have asked for a better time, and it definitely primed me to enjoy different takes on it. I think the series is pretty cool in all its forms.

I wanna say an open truth. Mario Kart is kinda bad, the only reason it was so fondly remebered is cause Kirby air ride never popped off into it's own series of racing games. Air riders will instantly show people why Kart riders need to be more original when your IPs are so fantastical.

I don't know how Sonic fans can eat up modern boost slop constantly. The less he's involved in the soundtracks, the more I disinterested I become. I like Hirokazu Ando and all, and people often hype him up because he's pegged to be the guy to do all the final boss themes, but tbf I find his work kinda samey. You can hear the same sort of jazziness and the same sort of samples throughout all of his tunes and it all sorta blends together. I think he peaked like 25+ years ago but that's just me.
And the rest of the recent Star Allies-era hires are okay and all but I just don't find their work very distinct. Like maybe a handful of songs in Star Allies and Forgotten Land are really standouts to me that were done by them.

It's not as grimdark as the Terminal Montage video, but it's true she sees things differently. That's sort of confirmed by her art style when she's going for still life. Every different species absolutely sees things differently. Sort of like how cats can't see that humans aren't a different type of cat, I imagine the Kirby style is how he sees things.
