I'm reading Higurashi and I'm midway through part 2. I love the mystery and the story overall, and I do like the characters well enough, but I am getting a little annoyed by the slice of life stuff. I understand that you need buildup to make it a good and suspenseful experience, but there's only so many times I want to read about children playing games with each other, and I'm pretty sure I'm near my limit. (I actually haven't touched it in two months because of this, and I only read one VN at a time so I'm feeling ready to either continue or say farewell.)

I'm not really into moe waifu stuff (no judgement, it's just not my thing) and I also don't like board games very much lol. But I love, love, LOVE slow reveal mysteries, and everyone says Higurashi is one of the all time greats.

Normally I play VNs with gameplay elements, or Jast/Nitro/nitro+chiral games where there's a little more "action" even though there's not "gameplay." I'm sure Higurashi being a sound novel isn't helping my experience, cause I have gnarly ADHD lol.

Am I going to have to put up with the whole game being 65% "club meetings" and wacky children shenanigans, or does the club meeting stuff drop off after a while, or become more blended with the story? Because I really want to love this game, but I think I'm gonna have to call it a day if it's like this for 100 hours...

PS: my favorite VN is Hatoful Boyfriend, so I'm very familiar with the frustration of telling people "you don't understand, it gets SO GOOD" lol

I am at chapter 5 of the visual novel and i am disappointed as hell. Its gonna be hard not sound like a really bitter and hateful person writing this.

So far i dont see all that much to love.

Ep 1 was boring. The tea party made the story seem pretty promising though. I continued.

Ep 2 was a slog. The last hour of the ep was pretty decent i guess. I actually tried solving this one as recommeded and it was pretty cool seeing the battle of wits with beato and battler.

Ep 3 had a cool twist plus the scene in kumodarin with rosa was good.

Ep 4 : i liked the portrayal of bullying in this ep. The climax of this ep was good.

Other than and a few other things i feel pretty neutral about the game.Once i am done ill probably think this vn is kinda decent i guess.
