Nahh. They had a pretty significant player drop off. Its why they changed so much going into 5.BF 1 and 5 had pretty good sales, but players just dropped off the face of the earth after 3-6 months. I think this was one of the major precursors that led to 2042. Was that 1/5 did so mediocre in post launch/purchase revenue, that they were trying to "spice things up" and figure out a new formula. Went hard on the specialists to try to appeal to apex style players. Went hard on the skins route like they were seeing go down in the CoD series. Did 128 and large maps to change things up. Etc. If those games did really well, we wouldn't have seen such significant design changes taking place between them.

We don't have the recoil and falloff values. The Tavor probably has aggressive falloff and high recoil that makes it bad beyond short range, for instance. If they don't change the slow TTK weapons from the beta, then they're all going to be pretty bad; they were presumably meant to excel at long ranges where the low recoil helps, but the damage fell off so much that they were losing to less controllable weapons most of the time anyway. The usually balance battlefield games with the default weapon being one of the best options.

for the Tavor, we have the Ace 32 as comparison, which already has aggressive damage drop off, turning from 3hk <10m into 4hk <20m into 5hk 20m+.
dropoff basically couldnt get any more aggressive than that.
so the Tavor has the be around the same, and the higher DPS is balanced by both by the much higher recoil (about 20% higher or maybe even 30% than the Ace based on the leak videos) and the tiny mag size of 20.

All that being said, I guarantee you 100% that the average player does not care about the things that make 2042 bad. They spawn, they run at enemy, they die. Anything beyond that is too difficult to comprehend. Balance, feel, map design, etc. The only reason CoD is able to do what it does is because its audience are actual idiots. They're the type of audience that doesn't care. They maybe watch 1-2 streamers. They don't go online to talk about games. Most of the games they buy, they learn either via friends or streamers. They see no issue with the skins or the same annual releases CoD does.

The whole industry has lost sight of what made games popular in the 2000s and late 90s. As cynical as it sounds, I hope the layoffs continue. The failures continue. The whole industry needs to clean house.

The bubble of covid popped and we're still seeing the ripple of it. Some metrics/spend are at below pre-covid levels. Reverting back to 2017-2019 eras. On top of this, there's a prediction that the US/Western economy is going to get absolutely destroyed in 2026. So this is causing a pull back from investors even more. Just looking at the rifles, NVO has no suppressor options and M433 doesn't get headshot ammo, so if those are important to you then that makes certain guns good/bad. If the full game follows the same pattern then it'll be interesting to see what different guns are capable of.

There are differences in the mags/grips too. There are eight different grip types between the three rifles, and each one only gets 4/5 of them. Too complex to tell which ones are the best (and best value) but there are still differences. One obvious one is only the G36 gets the grip pod, so if bipods are important to you then that's relevant. Mag sizes/fast reload mags are different too. Also I mentioned ammo earlier, but the M433 is the only one that gets tungsten ammo so that's another unique thing. There are a lot of different things going on here.

Yeap. The one that makes me laugh the most is breakaway I think its called. Ice map with the oil rig. Half the map is elevated on an ice shelf to the rest of the map. So what happens every game? The side on the ice shelf fills it with snipers, tanks, AA wild cats. A constant flow of fly sundances that can go to any place on the map. Sometimes you get unlucky and you get put on that team and their entire team doesn't push and just sits there and camps. Last time I played, we had 34 people along the ice shelf in a 64 v 64. But most of the time that side just dominates the entire map because its a literal ice fortress. Its like dude, wtf were you thinking.

I remember like a year or 2 into release I wrote a huge essay on all their major fuck ups in design (map design, or for example making transport helis, attack helis, and jets all take up the same spawn slot. Or how AA wildcats should be separate vehicles like 3/4/6 and not compete with AT/AP wildcats for better control, etc etc). Based on what I've seen in bf6 they've somewhat learned their lesson. What they were trying with 2042's map design was to have clustered, spaced out battles to split out players fighting in different sectors. Pre-rework Hourglass was the only map IMO that nailed this with people going for either the skyscrapers area or the stadium. The rest of the maps before the reworks didn't really nail that concept whether it be for better (Orbital, Renewal) or worse (Kaleidoscope, Breakaway, Discarded).

For sure, but this is the part where knowing your playerbase and how they react comes into play. If you want people to play the map in a certain way, you need to some how push and reward for that. Sorta "train them" like pavlov's dog. Problem is this game didn't do that on multiple levels. I mean even since 1942, the average player is not really looking at the map or caring where to go. They spawn where most allies are, they run towards where most enemies are located. That's it. Honestly, I think that's why the average person liked Bf6 so much. Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 3 are very close. Battlefield 1 only loses out because it's gunplay was a huge downgrade and gunplay is like, part of the core of the game.

I'd say 1942 eeks out a win due to it's variety in both maps which massively affected play style, the mods, and the uniqueness of its release. I played Battlefield 2 the most with friends, but 1942 was just so experimental and different. All the games after were more refined and honed in on what most people wanted, and modding died out.

I enjoyed my time with the BF6 beta and sniping especially is the greatest it has been in the series in the beta, but as someone who only got 2042 now after the beta, fuck man 2042 feels much more like a proper battlefield game and a better shooter in general. The gunplay is super tight and not filled with floatyness and bullet spread like in 6, the maps are fun and a good mix of being big but not filled with useless space, the gadgets are fast to use and everything about how you interact with the core moments of a match like choke points and vehicles encounters just feels good, not to mention the weather events which are pretty fun and give that "wow" factor BF maps usually have.
There's shit I don't like about it like the lack of a testing map, the customization menus being awful and the operator stuff, but everything about it during a match feels like a BF game, the beta for 6 hasn't had that feeling and I don't think the 3 big maps at launch will change that as I feel its a core issue with the game itself.

The A-10 is pretty nice. The Gau-8 can 100-0 all tanks but the MAV in one pass if they don't have APS. DPS checking Wildcat shitters in their base is funny.

i played with LMGs+DMRs most of the beta and you lose every 1v1 where you see someone at the same time unless they literally miss half their clip on you and its pretty inprobable to get 30 kill per game. also idk if the stats track left games because at one point i spent all day trying to get to nato side on conquest empire state to get into a cheese spot i discovered.

also you're utterly delusional if you think kdr matters when you have mechanics like revive skip and redeploy. every time i wasn't close to a flag, or i didn't see a medic closer than 5 sec to me i skip revive or redeploy to save a few seconds.
