I played the game as a kid and came back last year, played for around 8 months until I eventually quit around this January. the game is basically designed to be a full time job, which it is for many koreans. it can be fun if it's your job and you make a living out of it or if you are a neet that barely leaves the house or care about anything else and don't mind losing yourself in the virtual world for a while. most mmorpgs are like this these days so I probably won't play an mmorpg game ever again. it really revolves around choreslop, fomo, p2w and sucking money out you.

Isn't that how the game was back in the day? I played back in like 2005 and then returned in 2024, and what surprised me is that the modern game is heavily time-gated. In classic the way to progress was to just grind all day and then do bosses however much you could afford. In nu-maple everything is limited to once a day or once a week so once you're done with those any remaining time you invest has significantly diminished returns. It's quite friendly to playing for only 30 minutes to an hour per day, especially compared to classic where that wouldn't have gotten you past like level 40 or something. It's part of the reason why I'm not really excited for classic unless they heavily rework the exp curve.

Nah classic didn't feel forced. Nowadays you have to do your daily and weekly stuff so you don't miss out on them vs just grinding like a neet. You can't make up the loss because it's time-gated.

Bulers are clearly not going anywhere in gms since we didn't get the crystal nerfs, in fact the transferrable arcane boxes only encourage buling. The legion champ also mandates pushing some bulers even past ctene if you want to reach endgame.

i personally fit my champs out in arcanes and for some of them have got eternals as they are a very long term investment

having the choice between doing PQ, mob grind, scroll/rare item hunting, exploring, at low lvl
then getting into zakum in channel 1 at midnight reset, BF/horseman/anego (later bga/boss/kachuu musha/toad/sentinel type S) for big amount of party xp with a group was so rewarding or you could just chillax and "dailystory" zakum to endgame up to at least 150-170 enough to max your core 4th job skills
just scrolling and skill book for RNG nothing to really make you feel bad just slow drip feed comfy dopamine
nu-maple is just full of stuff that makes you feel bad like booming and small gear upgrades and cubes rng can't even roll best lines so you either play more and boost the numbers for the board meetings or pay up and skip with battle passes for the annual quota so stinkwell can fart up a room of casual
